~I Might Change Just One Thing About My Husband~

So...all of you know how much I love my husband. Of course he isn't perfect-but he's perfect for ME! Of course he has flaws like everyone else but I wouldn't want him to be any different...except maybe ONE thing... My husband cannot save a penny if his life depended on it! Thank God I'm a saver but it's hard to save when my husband finds what I save and spends it. Once a week I agree with splurging if we can on something-whether it be food or whatever. I wish my husband could leave it to just once a week but he has gotten better with spending through out the years. He used to be MUCH worse than he is now. Every Friday we usually either order out or go somewhere. Last night we decided on Chinese Food, $25 fed us all so it wasn't too bad. The funny part about this ordeal is this...my husband asked me to pick a fortune cookie and hand it to him. He opened it all excited to read his fortune and this is what it said-- "You should be able to make money and hold on to it!!" He didn't think it was as funny as I did, but he did laugh a little bit. I told him I swear I didn't ask them to put that in there!

lol that is too funny. The perfect fortune. My fiance is the same way. He sure can spend money. Thankfully I am the opposite so I am in charge of the money.

People are tempted to spend money with so many online sites like ebay and Amazon.

What a coincidence that was lol. My hubby has no concept of the meaning of time, drives me crazy, but I suppose now that he is retired it doesn't much matter.

@fishtiger58 Lol. Yeah mine struggles with time too. Now I just know to schedule everything ahead of time. If we have to do something at 4 I always tell him 3 instead.

That's so funny! You picked the right one for him, or should I say that the fortune cookie picked him?

@LovingMyBabies I think that you have found your balance though as a couple. Imagine what would happen if you were both spenders.

That's so funny. No one could have guessed what his fortune cookie would read! He sounds like a good husband, even if he's not quite the saver you are. My husband's worst (and almost only bad) trait is impatience.

@1creekgirl I know, I thought it was a message from the Lord for him. It was too perfect! One bad trait is not bad at all.

@LovingMyBabies God used prophets in the Old Testament, so who's to say he can't use a fortune cookie?

That is really funny. I love what his fortune cookie said. It's always a good idea to save, while still splurging a little from time to time.

@LovingMyBabies Lol. No it's not just you. I like being able to save, while spending when we have it. I think it's smarter that way.

@celticeagle When we were first together he was really bad about spending-whether bills were paid or not. It was terrible-but thank God he has gotten better.

Although I know your not supposed to, I know many women with the same problem so they have a secret bank account, or stash, to save. Its not to keep the money from the husband but to have when an emergency comes up. Ever think about this?

@andriaperry This is harder for me since I don't drive. I am not able to get anywhere on my own so that would be really difficult for me. Now and then I put some money back to save but usually he finds it and it's gone.
@pureme (1526)

That's true, but I don't have any separate savings, how I wish I could but I couldn't. We keep the same purse, use it for the same purpose but still I feel like still having a secret money somewhere

My hubby is the same. If we have it, it gets spent. That is why I like to have PayPal and Amazon money. If I renew my school contract next year I will have my pay check put into direct deposit savings instead of checking.
