Alamang, a particular type of shrimp paste, is one of the most popular dips for unripe mangoes in the Philippines. It has a salted taste which lessens the sourness of an unripe mango. There are different versions of alamang, some have a blend of sweetness, and there are also spicy ones. The slices of mangoes on the picture might look ripe already because it's already yellowish but it's actually just close to ripe or "manibalang" in Tagalog. If alamang is not available, I just dip my unripe mangoes into salt or soy sauce.Mango is really one of my favorite fruits.

I used to love Alamang but its uric acid is so high so I turned to salt instead when eating raw mangos. Not as delightful as alamang but at least safer for those who watch over their health.

Yes, we should also consider our health especially when we are getting older as our body is getting prone to different sickness. Yes, salt is also a good match for unripe mangoes.

@bluelion Some are also using vinegar dip and I wonder how both sour things would match hahaha.

@salonga Really? Wow, they are really sour food lovers, sourness to the higher level. I haven't tried that. Maybe they also love eating raw kamias and sampaloc. Hahaha.
