Songs I don't like: "I Wanna Talk About Me"

Inspired by @JohnRoberts and @teamfreak16 I bring you songs that I dislike. To kick off this series I bring you "I Wanna Talk About Me" by Toby Keith. I will admit that the music video for this little ditty is rather amusing - but it isn't enough to be redemptive. However the repetitive refrain "I wanna talk about meeeeeeeeeeeeee" ... makes my skin crawl. I have been on many, many dates where all the man could do was talk about himself. So to assume this is only a female trait is - in short - incorrect. Further more let's take a look-see at the video. There are 2 easy fixes to Toby's issue. The lady in the video is of course a lovely , model-esque, blonde. Well, it's sort of a trade off. Looking like that isn't easy. So of course she's going to talk about her diet, her trips to the gym, her shopping... - this isn't saying that beautiful people can't be interesting, too, however it would seem like sometimes there is that trade off. So maybe Toby could search for a love interest based on personality and common interests rather than looks. But we all know that is not very likely to happen, so... on to the second fix - It looks like she drags him with shopping - allow her to go on her own or with her friends. I can't stand couples where they need to do everything together -- while one person becomes a wet blanket because they don't like the activity. You shouldn't have to give up things you like to date someone, on the other hand - they don't need to do things they don't like, either.
I know - it's all in good fun, but I still can't stand the song.

Glad you have joined the musical dislike party! Isn't Keith mocking those talking about themselves?

Yay and what a fun party it is, too! I think he is - apparently she only talks about herself, and now he wants to talk about "me, I, #1, Meeeeeeee". lol. I can't believe I just looked up the lyrics....

@FayeHazel I know it's an iconic song, but for example: "Earth Song" (by Michael Jackson)... Don't play that song next to me because I don't take responsibility for my actions.

Blech. Even worse, it was written by the great Bobby Braddock, who wrote "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and "D-I-V-O-R-C-E." Bad songs are one thing, bad songs written by classic songwriters are a completely different (and more disgusting) animal.

Oh, I assure you it is quite dreadful. Country is popular in this area so a lot of business play country stations... so when this was first out I heard a lot....
