Hi there, glad I found you all. As the new kid here what tips can you give me to get up and running on myLot quickly. How do I make freinds here...and what NOT to do?

Very glad to meet you! Here is the link for the community guidelines: You won't get rich here but it's fun and you meet a lot of really nice people. I was just talking to someone in England about ghosts in pubs! You can learn something new every day from interesting new friends all over the world. Where are you from?

@TheRamblingMan I have always wanted to visit England, my grandmother's family (last name Rose) was from there way back when. From what I've seen, it looks like a piece of heaven. I shall see you around the myLot!

Thanks. Yes we seem to have a lot of ghosts here in England, many more in the places tourists frequent! I'm 'oop North' in Yorkshire, known as God's own county. I shall look at the guidelines.

You will find all of the essential information on how myLot works and what you should and should not do under "Help" in the menu beneath your username at top left. The most important thing to read is the Community Guidelines, which tell you what is not allowed here, and the Earnings Program FAQs tell you how earnings work and how to get paid (once you reach the minimum of $5). The best way to start is probably to look at the 'Explore'/'Most Recent Discussions' list, choose some discussions which interest you and in which you might have something to say and respond to them. That way, people will get to know you and are more likely to want to comment on or respond to what you have written. Once you have some idea of how to word a discussion so that people will be inclined to respond to it and also have seen what kinds of things might be interesting to people, you can start posting your own discussions. It's worth remembering that nothing you post here earns anything at all by itself. It is only when people interact with it that you earn anything. The more that people interact with your posts by responding to your discussions, commenting on your responses or comments &c., the more you will earn. You will probably find that earnings are fairly slow at first but the more that you interact with others and the more you contribute to discussions, the more people will be likely to interact with you. Don't expect that myLot will make you rich! It is not very difficult to reach the $5 minimum or a little more every month and there are one or two here who may make as much as $30 some months but, essentially, you should think of myLot as a place where you can have fun meeting and discussing topics of mutual interest and learning stuff ... with the nice bonus that you can earn a dollar or two whilst doing so.

One of the things that you should NOT do is expect to get rich here. It has not happened to anyone here yet and I doubt you will be the first but I wish you luck just the same

Don't cancel it! You might get a winning lottery number abd then you could get it with that and myLot while you are cruising

I see that @CoralLevang expplained about adding the names of the person you are 'talking' with. When you add a comment, it (the name) will appear automatically without you having to add it. When you comment to a response it will not appear but, assuming that they have not turned them off, the user concerned will receive a notification reagrdless of whether their name appears or not. it is really much simpler to actually do than trying to undertsand my ramblins Ah! You can add sliey faces and change the font by hitting 'mylot code' which will appear underneath the box where you type your posts, responses and comments. Enough, my fingers are out of breath!
