On booting-up today, my Firefox Browser told me today: "Firefox is ending support for Windows XP and Vista" and gave me a link for upgrading to Windows 10. That link told me that I'd have to pay either $199 for an upgrade to the new Operating System or $249 for a whole new computer! So I came here planning to ask 'why it's so expensive'; but--looking for a picture for "upgrading to windows 10"--'the picture I found' inspired me to search for a way I could upgrade Free instead. I've only glanced at the Daily Tech article, but there are lots of words like "workaround" & "loophole" in there. ... I'll worry about that later ... I guess I'll go back to my original question: Why should I pay Microsoft over a hundred dollars for Microsoft's failure to deliver durable software in the first place?
By doing a clean install on a formatted hard drive, Microsoft has little way of checking whether your previous OS version

Wow - Firefox is a FREE service. You shouldn't jump so quickly to dumb adds. Just change your browser.

I'm sorry if it sounded like I said I have to pay 'to use Firefox.' I just mentioned them because their 'not supporting Windows Vista anymore' means I HAVE TO change browsers. And it brings up the fact that I probably have to upgrade my OS anyway (since IE & probably GC and ... most other browsers, won't work with Vista either). Or Do you know of any browser that will continue to support Windows Vista? (The link below might show some options)
