I had one years ago and it's very painful. My doctor discouraged surgery until we tried everything else. He gave me a shot of cortizone which hurt like crazy but it helped the pain. I had my arm in a sling for a couple of weeks, was careful with it, and it got better on its own.

Two people we know have had a torn rotator cuff. It depends on the damage. If you wait and things are better, you will know that your body healed. If it continues to be an issue, you may have to resort to surgery.

@LaJenna It seems to us that surgery is sometimes suggested too quickly. Maybe a physician with a 'wait and see' opinion would be good?

@PatZAnthny Thank you Pat Z Anthony for that helpful information. Made me feel I have hope not to have surgery

As any injury, it depends how bad it is. My cousin just had surgery on hers because her arm was actually coming out of her socket if she moved wrong. Apparently it could take her a long time to heal too.

@LaJenna Good luck with that! I'm currently trying to heal a blood clot. Nasty little things!

Thank you Ruby hawk! I am happy you are back and hope you are feeling well. I have been gone myself due to having whiplash and therapy
