I might have one. I was wondering do you always have to have surgery to fix it or can rest do that?

I had one years ago and it's very painful. My doctor discouraged surgery until we tried everything else. He gave me a shot of cortizone which hurt like crazy but it helped the pain. I had my arm in a sling for a couple of weeks, was careful with it, and it got better on its own.

I have a fear of those types of shots. My doctor and therapist want me to try the shot but too scared. I know I must be a baby. I just have a phobia about them, but thank you for commenting

Two people we know have had a torn rotator cuff. It depends on the damage. If you wait and things are better, you will know that your body healed. If it continues to be an issue, you may have to resort to surgery.

@LaJenna It seems to us that surgery is sometimes suggested too quickly. Maybe a physician with a 'wait and see' opinion would be good?

I might have one too - on the right side! I'm trying to do strengthening exercises . . . it helps but the pain has not gone away entirely. I am avoiding surgery all I can. My friend had the surgery and it did not help her, she says.

@LaJenna For me, moving it - doing weights and stretches is helping far more than resting it. I hope your's gets better soon too!

As any injury, it depends how bad it is. My cousin just had surgery on hers because her arm was actually coming out of her socket if she moved wrong. Apparently it could take her a long time to heal too.

@LaJenna Good luck with that! I'm currently trying to heal a blood clot. Nasty little things!

Yes I hope it just needs to heal through physical therapy. Thank you for commenting

I'm not sure but my brother in law had to have surgery. Maybe everyone doesn't have to.
