It's time for another song with a day of the week in the title. And, oh, what's this, it's NOT a "Sunday" song? Grab a sundae because there are more Sunday songs coming. Meanwhile, here's that much-maligned day up next, courtesy of one of my favorites.
#6: Come Monday - Jimmy Buffett
Sadly, Jimmy Buffett, to me, has become almost a parody of himself. If I ever win that gazillion-dollar lottery I'm gonna send him out on a tour where he doesn't sing let's get drunk and have a cheeseburger in Margaritaville because it's five o'clock somewhere. I know, those songs have bought him a sailboat or 20, but sheesh.
I prefer the "ballad" side of Jimmy Buffett. My favorite Buffett songs are things like "Island," "He Went to Paris," and this gem. One of his earliest songs, and something that actually received some airplay on country radio (well, I was living in Daytona Beach when this came out in 1974, so that might have been giving promotion to the "regional" guy), is this song about going out for a show when you really don't want to.
On one of his live albums Steve Goodman (who was good friends with Buffett: they wrote several songs together, and Buffett is pictured on the cover of Goodman's second album, Somebody Else's Troubles) said in introducing "This Hotel Room" (which Buffett has covered), "I hate songs about the road, 'cause, you know, who cares?" But there are some good "road" songs out there. This is one of them.

@workathomefan -- Jesse Winchester wrote it. Buffett covered it on Changes In Latitude album. Gorgeous song.
No relation to the song Kenny Price had called "Biloxi," BTW.

Not all that closeted. I saw him five times, including once opening for the Eagles, and met him twice.

@FourWalls They say he has, or had, a Summer home in the Crazy Mountains of Montana, where I've hiked a few times, and where Crow Chief Plenty Coups did his vision quests as a young teen. But I'm not sure if it's true or not.

I have A1A (and have been on A1A) and do like that one. I prefer the ballady songs to the drinking and partying songs too. Why Don't We Get Drink and Eat a Cheeseburger is kind of a "novelty" tune, but it loses it's meaning when sung by a bunch of stoned 70-year-olds with parrots on their heads.
