What is the oldest piece of clothing you own?

The sweatshirt in the picture is one I bought when my daughter was four and attended a pre-school held, but not affiliated with, at the local First Congregational Church. That makes it about 24 years old. I may have one a fee years older even. It is showing some wear. I wore it the other day when I was outside filling my bird feeders and jobs like that are about all it is good for these days. But it made me wonder. Do men keep old shirts and jackets around a lot longer than women do? I suspect that I am not the only one on myLot with a very old item of clothing.

I am someone who keep clothes for a very long time. Yesterday I put on a sweater to go out grocery shopping. My, husband had a look and asked "how old it is? It's still very nice", well I bought that sweater on March 1974, it is turning 42 at the end of the month. I also still have my white long bridal gown, I plan to wear it in 4 years for our 50th anniversary.

@JamesHxstatic Made in the U.S.of A was built to last forever, it's a pity they don't make it like that anymore, I'm a teen of the 70's and our Levi's denims become more valuable the older and more tattered they aresome things just aren't the same now

I was wearing a t-shirt the other day that I knew was old, but never realized how old. My daughter and I were looking through old photo albums, and we came across a photo of me wearing that exact same shirt 23 years ago! I probably have a closet and drawers full of clothes that are that old. As long as they still fit me, and as long as they are not ripped, torn or full of holes or stains, I will hold onto them and keep wearing them.

@JamesHxstatic I'm not a hoarder by any means, but I tend to hold on to clothes forever, until they literally fall apart. Then, they become old rags to use around the house for chores and such.

@moffittjc Same here, Jeff. I do donate some that I am tired of to Goodwill or St, Vinnies.

I'm not a man. But I have a shirt and two pants that I have been wearing since grade school. I think it was sixth grade when I got them. I also had multi colored pants in the sixth grade that I wore until last year. I had to give them away because they got a huge hole in them.

I have my junior high school t-shirt that I got in grade 8. So that makes it about 40 years old. Wow!! Of course I will never wear it again because I was just a kid back then but I have always hung on to it.

I have some clothing that was mine as a baby. I am 54 and a silk scarf that belonged to my great grandma. It is very old, not sure exactly how old though

My husband has some ancient pieces. I guess my oldest is a pink t-shirt with Las Vegas in glittering letters on the front. Bought it on a trip to Las Vegas nine years ago.

The oldest thing I own is a hand-knitted sweater my best friends mom made me when I was in high school. Although it no longer fits I keep it as a reminder of how sweet she was

I have shirt similar to a T-shirt which once had a skirt to go with it. It must be ancient - at least 26 years I'd say.

This might sounds pretty bad but all my cloths are 3+ years old i don't buy new clothes often. but i think the oldest thing i have is a dress that my grandparents bought me for my birthday from my favorite store inside a big flea market near us , doesn't exactly fit right anymore but for some reason i just haven't let go of it.

I have loads of clothes that never perish nor discolour. What I am wearing now is a blouse that I picked up in Venice. It is white with embossed white print almost like the watercolour. It is 17years old. And yes. I have some sarees that are ancient (lol)

Back in about 1972 or so my brother bought some material and took it to a friend of his who made a shirt out of it for me. I still have it since it has some sentimental meaning. I haven't wore it for years and I doubt that it even fits anymore.

I will literally keep a shirt and wear it until it falls off. I love being comfortable rather than fashionable.
