Well for me Mike take care of the record on Ms.Ruby .I am not sure over the years that we spend.I know it is a lot.
Then your talking about treats, dog food, toys, etc. This add up a lot.
I wish I kept record on this.
Yes,we love out pet animals.I believe a cat is much cheaper?not sure
as long as we have money.Yes we will keep Ms.Ruby healthy.

According to this report, the total first-year cost of owning a dog is $1,270 and for a cat it's $1,070. As you can see, having a pet can cost you over $1,000 in the first year, and well over $500 each additional year. Depending on the food you buy and your actual medical expenses, the costs could be much higher.Sep 1, 2016

Our former lab, Abby, cost us an arm and two legs, she was always sick with something and always expensive things. Ruby is fairly cheap to take care of when it comes to meds/vet care. She gets her heartworm pills that's basically all....thank goodness.

I love my dog. She's a butt. I always want to spoil her and make sure she is healthy and happy. I wish I had the money to really spoil her with toys and fantastic treats and such. I see my pet as part of my family. So of course I wouldn't mind spending money on my dog. ^__^

I have 4 dogs. Big ones. I spend a good amount on dog food and treats weekly. I never added it up. Yearly vet visits.. They are all healthy. I also have 15 cats. 4 of them requiring medication a lot more often. So for me the cats may be costing me more money... But food for everyone is hundreds a month.

Our last dog got very sick a few days after we got her.
She was hospitalized for a week, and on IV, and we paid a lot for that.
Then she had a compromised immune system as a result, and after a few visits to the vet, we learned how to treat her for seasonal allergies. Just a child's pill worked.
We soaked a lot of money into that dog, but she was part of the family and worth every dime of it.

This is why I do not want anymore animals. I am to cheap and do not like having to pay money on animals needs anymore. Food and cat litter adds up. Shots and get visits when my cats were young was very costly as well as treatment for fleas someone brought into our home. We had one male cat that got blocked and could not urinate. It was under 2 at the time. My husband and I spent $700 to get him unblocked and had to buy extremely expensive food for him ever after that. Never again!

when i had coco i often spent so much i was broke till next pay day. she had several surgeries over the years. and medical problems but was so worth it all. spent 700 bucks or so on her with that last surgery . poor girl. at least i know i did all i could and now she is not suffering. another reason not to have any more. hurts too bad to loose them

That is why we don't have any pets. Seriously, we can not afford it. We barely get by just spending money on what we need to survive.

Now that is a question that I wont be able to answer because I don't have a dog, but no disrespect Sir but the love would be priceless I would have got from him compared to the money I ever spend on his living.

When you love your pet, I don't think cost matters, just like children, you will care for them the best you know how.

I was going to say it would be best not to keep a record of what Ruby costs! Did you know you have typo in your title? It doesn't worry me but some like to have the titles correct.

I will pay whatever it takes to keep my cats healthy and happy, but obviously, sometimes it's going to be more than what's affordable if one gets sick.
