As my friend and I are watching weather related movies to prepare for a yearly trivia game, we had to include, of course - "The Fog" and "The Mist".
"The Fog" (2005 version)
I really expected more from this movie. I thought it was some kind of horror classic and maybe the older version is better. This one tells the story of a town full of people celebrating a local "founder's day". The problem? The town founder's were really murderers. Ghosts from the past try to execute the blood descendants of the town's founders. Of course a big question is why at this point in time? Why not earlier? Or later? Why not get revenge directly after? And of course a thousand other questions. It felt, cheesy and poorly thought through. Not a bad premise though.
"The Mist"
I actually really enjoyed this horror movie. A mist descends on a small town. There's some unknown danger in the mist, which traps a group of townspeople in the local grocery store. Power struggles ensue as 3 major groups separate and become increasingly violent. This didn't scare me really because to me the monsters didn't seem believe able. (A tentacle with teeth that likes dog food?) What did really, really bother me was the last 5 minutes which truly define horror. I know Stephen King is known for horror and shock, but seriously...
After a violent storm attacks a town in Maine, an approaching cloud of mist appears the next morning. As the mist quickly envelops the area, a group of peopl...

No - this one had relative unknown actors in it - I keep hearing that the original is better. I typically like Kurt Russell - so maybe I should check it out

A good review you have given here. I may have seen those movies at some point in time but nether leaves an impression on me. I enjoy Stephen King's books better.

I also didn't understand the ending - why so soon ? Why not wait until hunger or the monster?

I watched the Mist but I haven't watched the Fog yet. Do you think the Fog is a good movie? As to the Mist, it is a good movie in my opinion. But I really feel angry to its ending. I think you know what I meant. I don't want to talk about the ending here because some Mylotters haven't watched this movie yet. I don't want them to know the ending
