Do you know how to whistle?

Whistling is considered a simple act by millions of people ... but not by me.
Perhaps many of you are shocked, but I don't know how to whistle. Many of my relatives, friends, co-workers and even my girlfriend tried to teach me. Without success so far.
I could never learn and I felt frustrated sometimes in the past , but I don't care anymore for a such long time.

Whistling isn't important these days, really. When I was little, there were so many movies and tv shows where the characters whistled a tune so everyone wanted to learn. My Grandpa could whistle beautifully and I wanted to do it, too, but couldn't no matter how hard I tried.
I don't remember how he did it but my oldest brother taught me to whistle in about 15-20 minutes. It seems hours when I look back on it but I think that is just how I imagined it. I was 4 and he was 14. It's one of my fondest memories of him.

whistling no doubt is an art ... takes practice... comes naturally to some while others have to work on it... but I guess its ok if you cant whistle like the group dire straits does in " winds of change " ... i try to learn though! Cheers!

I can do a bit. But i've found the more I keep up with it the better I sound. My uncle used to be able to get up to some pretty high pitches but I don't recall if he did songs or not. He's had a stroke and gets a lil grouchy when I tell my kids what a good whistler he was. IDK if he lost the control of his lips or just so out of practice?

I learned how to whistle by inhaling first. Then I learned exhaling, and then I learned how to fuse humming into whistling, creating a hum-whistle. It sounds really neat as a sound effect. Not many people I know can do it.
For many years I couldn't do it. It took a lot of trial and error.
I couldn't snap my fingers for a long time either, and to this day it is easier for me to snap them using my ring finger and thumb, rather than middle finger and thumb. I thought this was really odd, until I realized I was double-jointed in my thumbs.
