Are many people interested in watching a movie in the cinema today?

I always think that you can always buy the film tickets before it is shown. As I think today not many people will go to watch a movie in the cinema. There are more options. This is why I often buy the tickets before it is shown in the cinema no more than half an hour.
Today we have free time and it is raining. There is a big cinema nearby my home. So the best way is to go to see a movie, especially I like the movie A Dog's Purpose. After lunch, I went online and wanted to buy the film tickets online. I couldn't believe that there was just one ticket left for that movie. OK, then I checked the later time. No more seats and the available seats are in a bad location. And the better option is at night but I don't want to go out at night.
Perhaps this movie is just so popular I gave up my mind to go to see a film anyway.

The film tickets are so expensive these days. There is recently a policy in Shanghai. For seniors, from Mon. to Fri. they can have for only RMB 30, instead of usually 80-100. Still, few go to the cinema, except for a few well mentioned ones.

As you say...there are so more options available today. I go to the cinema only as a treat now. Mostly I watch movies on a big screen TV as I really don't mind if I see the movies later in the month. I feel no urge to see a movie immediately as soon as it is released. Also some spoiler is so long it's like seeing the whole movie already. But that's just me.

I just lost my interest to see a movie in cinema hall. May be we are not going and get busy with many other things. The vacation time on our visit to native is the only time we go for a movie at cinema. There we go with siblings children.
In case of popular films getting tickets is a tough task. Hope you will have luck next time.
