Will You Judge People By Their Appearance?

March 11, 2017 9:04am CST
When I was a student, my teachers always told us that we shouldn't judge people solely by their appearance. I agreed with them at that time. But when I grow up, I gradually realize that in some cases, it is reasonable to judge people by their appearance. Do you agree with me? And do you have any examples to prove this?

I never judge people by their appearance as appearance may deceive us. Sometimes what we see is not actually in reality. When I was in college there was a boy near by room in hostel who seem to be very egoistic by face so I never talked to him for around 6 months but when I started talking to him he became my best friend.

Yes, you are right. But what I want to stress is another form of appearance. Actually, we can know a man simply from what he shows to us. His unswerving face would tell us that he is a fortitudinous man; his perfect body would tell us that he has a good lifestyle; his standing posture would tell us that he is a a well-bred man; his wearing would tell us that he has a good eye for beauty.

@Myluckyboy I don't know where you are located so I'm not sure whether in your country there are corrupt politicians or not. Here we have them and they are dressed in dark suits and wearing a tie. Where do they fit in your analysis? They stand tall and are fit because they go regulalry to the gym.

I try not to judge other people, I really don't care, so it's not very difficult. Sometimes when someone is extreme, like wearing clothes that are WAY TO SMALL for them, I'll comment quietly to myself. My mother-in-law use to say as long as you have clean, neat hair and cleans shoes you're good. I would add that they clothes should be neat and clean. I'm not big about name brands on clothes, except I prefer Levi's jeans and Reebok gym shoes because their padding is so comfortable. Welcome to MyLot, @myluckboy

I think we all do this at times-even if not intentionally. We are not perfect after all. But I do try hard not to judge people by how they look.

I do not judge them for there appearance. If they are comfortable in what they are wearing or the way they look good for them.. we are put down way to much today about everything so why make it even worse.. I say let them be them and let them be happy.

Oh yes I judge people by their looks...especially in threatening situations. Quick, fast and intuitively. If I sense anything wrong, I bail out as fast as I could. In my world if you want to survive, you better learnt to judge people by their appearance. It is an effective tool of survival.

I try not to judge people by their appearance. First impressions can be deceiving. I think it's better to get to know someone before you judge them or what not.

I try not to. I try to remember that as long as they like the way they dress and feel good about themselves thats what counts. Of course one example when I used to conduct interviews at my previous job, I would always kind of judge people as prospective employees. Quite a few times I interviewed people who were not dressed the part or looked as though they hadnt showered in days.

It's inevitable that we do this sometimes. But it's equally important to look beyond the first impressions.

I think we are all prejudiced in a way regardless how well our parents and teachers taught us. It's a learned behavior and we all fall victim to it. I also think that it is sometimes good to be cautious but not judgemental. Judging people because they look a certain way is not good becuase there are more people out there who look professional but are evil deep inside. You still will never know who's who until you get to know them.

Yeah, I think we shouldn't judge them by appearance... I saw a man here, he has grey hair n very friendly n always talking about god. Later I had a doubt on him n what I found that he is a cheap man who is after girls all the time, calling them n recharging their sim so they call him back.. He is a hypocritical...

No. There's no reason for it.
