It's my father-in-law's death anniversary today and before attending mass for his intention, we passed by the seaside to see the sunrise.
As I watched the sun rise slowly up the horizon, I noticed a heron walking and feeding itself on the beach. Since I've been making my sunrise watch at the seaside, this is the first time I've seen a heron on the shore. A little while later, another heron landed and also started looking for food. I was awed at the sight of the second heron because it's also the first time that I've seen a bluish-colored heron.
I took a shot or two of the bluish heron and have attached a shot here.

Yes, I think the bluish color is rare, Ms. Judy, because as far as I know, herons are colored white. It could not be a reflection of the water too because I took photos of both herons. Here's the first one -

@JudyEv Ms. Lori told me they have blue herons. I don't know if the two herons I saw came from far away places though I know that if you go to the northern part of our province, you'd find many herons on the fishponds along the highway :)

@SIMPLYD No. Herons are wild and migratory birds I think.

Yes, it was the only one. Actually there were only two of them on the beach. The white and the blue one.

May your Father-in-Law rest in peace.
Your eyes certainly look for rare views - special eyes I might say. I have never seen this bird before.
