I swear, it's magic. A local news channel did a story about how gas prices are falling because of an abundance of product. Prices are under $50 a barrel. And, sure enough, like clockwork, gas prices went up here. WAY up, as in 50c a gallon. Of course, there are things locally that will drive gas prices up even if it's 2c a gallon everywhere else. This weekend, for instance, both major state college basketball teams (Kentucky Wildcats and the University of LOSERville [guess which one I root for ]) are playing in the NCAA tournament just up the road in Indianapolis. Spring break usually drives the prices up. And I promise you the prices will increase Derby week and just before the State Fair begins. Those price jumps are like clockwork. So, apparently, is the price increase when the news reports how the prices are going down. Here's the Lovin' Spoonful's magic, from back in the 60s:
