I'm with you on the "growling" metal music and rap. I'd have to add to it any modern "mainstream" music, country or pop (since you really can't tell the difference between the two). I'm not very big on opera (in the traditional sense of "opera," not the more "modern things like The Makado). I couldn't listen to classical all the time, but I like the "Spring" movement of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

@JohnRoberts -- I like The Makado, which was used in Foul Play.

I think Spring is considered to be its own Concerto, as it has three movements, fast-slow-fast, like a a lot of Barque concertos. I like The Four Seasons, but I tire of Vivaldi more quickly than I do of Bach or Handel, for some reason.

Most Techno would be something we'd prefer to skip here.

I am absolutely not into rap and hip hop. I can take some hard rock and heavy metal when the songs have a rhythm and great lyrics. I don't like too much classical but certain pieces, I love songs from operettas and some opera arias. Here is one that is considered hard rock but a song that sort of grows on you. At least I like it. Tell me what you think. Unfortunately the band in no longer but their music lives on.

RAP 100%. Makes no sense to me, and have a nephew in law who thinks he is good and such, but I hate to say it there is no way I would ever support him.

I'm like total opposite to you then. Classical, rap, and metal are things I dig. I find sappy love ballads ear-wrenching.

I like a lot of music, and even within the types of music I generally don't like, there are often one or two songs that I actually do like, or don't mind listening to.
One thing I really can't stand is 'rap' (that's not proper music). (Why are sweets like music? You should always throw away the (w)rappers). Saying that, there are songs which include rapping but the song is OK.
I also can't stand the sound of violins. My other half loves violin music but I find it truly painful. I mean physically painful on my ears, even if the music doesn't sound too terrible.
I can't think of much else I'd say I really dislike, though, although I'm not keen on a lot of modern stuff that all sounds the same, sharing 2 notes and 4 words between them.

i like cookie monster metal..in small doses..as much as i like it,a whole album at a time gets old.
dubstep and some other electronic modern music...it's no wonder kids get high at rave parties..you'd have to be high to listen to that racket.
