Wow! I actually got the day off from work! Our factory closed for second and third shifts, due to the snow. This is only the second time they've closed in at least the last 10 years, maybe longer. I was stupidly going to try to drive to work, but then I figured I'd better check the Central NY closures on my phone. (We don't have TV, so I missed any announcements they might have made.) And I called, too, to double check that they were really closing. It's exciting to get an unexpected day off!
We've already got at least 18 inches, and it's still falling. I went out to shovel for a little while, and try to clean off the vehicles for tomorrow, then my brother came with the snowblower to do the driveway. It'll take days for him to finish, though. At least the snow is pretty light, since it's cold out.

I usually hate snow, but when it lets me off work, it's not so bad.

We ended up getting over 2 feet (I don't know exactly, but most places reported 30 inches or more)! The guy next door has a tractor with a plow, and my brother snowblowed between the cars, but it was still a lot of cleanup! And now the wind has been blowing all day, and drifting the snow. I actually got 2 days off from work, because they closed Wednesday too. My paycheck will be small next week!

I've been interested in seeing how this blizzard affected everyone so I am going through posts about it. How much did your area wind up getting? Here in PA most everything closed down as well. My boyfriend couldn't get out of his driveway for two days as there was so much to shovel. The second day he came to my house and we shoveled one end of my driveway out so he could pull in and park. As I was shoveling the other end so my daughter would be able to get to school a guy came along with a big bulldozer and plowed my whole driveway. It would have taken me hours every day for over a week to do all that so I was so thankful!

@connierebel My father did a path my from the garage on my property down the driveway across the road and up the driveway to his house. The snow was taller then the snowblower and so it took him a really long time to do that. I felt bad for him doing that but there really was no other way to get it to his house other then that. He isn't supposed to shovel as it causes him to get Tachacardia.

We got about 2 feet at our house, but most of the towns around us got 30-36 inches. Our next door neighbor is nice like that; he came over with his tractor and plowed our driveway. We do have a snowblower, so at least we wouldn't have had to shovel it all by hand, but it still took my brother several hours to clean up around the vehicles, and make a path to the barn.

Yay for the day off from work, but not yay for this winter still hanging on when it should be spring!

It's actually awfully late in the season for us still to get this much snow. Usually we'll get slammed in either December or February. I think it's probably a record this time.

So hoping we don't see snow again ever! Some enjoy it, but not us.

No, unfortunately not. I guess I won't be so happy when I get my small paycheck next week!
