Donating blood

Do you donate blood? Why or why not? Blood is needed to save lives. It can and often is an honor to donate blood and many do. I think there are a lot of regulations behind donating blood such as if you have been out of the country...just one time or if you have a tattoo. I personally feel that keeps people away. I think if the blood is being tested for diseases etc, where you have traveled or what tattoo you have should not matter. Thoughts?

I can't donate blood because I live on a small remote island in the middle of the North sea. . . There is no one to donate it too!

@noruby I can take the flight to the town, but that is only once a week - and they don't do blood donations either - it's only a small town!

I get that. Do you go to a bigger town or can you?

I haven't donated blood because I take medication, I don't even know what my blood type is. You can donate blood if you have a tattoo just not in the last two years of having on, ink can hurt the blood. And traveling matters because a lot of things can happen. Limitations happen for a reason. The only limitation that was dumb was homosexuals not being able to donate, but thankfully that is becoming less of a thing and more can donate.

good points and I agree. I still think more limitations can be removed.

@noruby Many have been removed. Most are just for safety.

I don't donate blood. First, my weight is not qualified to donate my blood since it is too light. Second, I have a healthy problem and I can't donate my blood.

I do. I only did it once, during college. But it made me queasy. So I haven't done it since. It's a good way to save people's lives during surgery or other medical emergencies.

@noruby Thanks. One is better than none, I guess.

Many people say that it makes them not feel so great after words body wise. I happy you were able to do it once though!
