Hi! I had pumpkins before. My never bear fruit maybe because a lot of people came and harvested the flowers all the time. The flowers are edible they said. I even saw in the local market. But i've never tried cooking it before though so I don't know how it taste like.

So the flower is edible then. There's a good chance the sprouts are too. Do you know how they eat the flower?

@diosabella I see. So I could use the pumpkin flower in stir-fry. You are making me looking forward to the pumpkin vines. How long does it takes for your pumpkin before it start flowering?

That's one of the issues I had to face. I toss the seeds right smack in the middle of my tiny backyard. How silly of me.

@amitkokiladitya I would love to keep all of them, but they might not be able to survive in such limited space. I might have to choose to keep the healthiest sprout and pulled out the rest.

I tried eating the sprout. My mom cooked it in some coconut milk. It taste fine. But it is not something I might buy if I found it sold in market. Free food, now that is another story. By now, the ones I left to grow on the ground are infesting my backyard. I am looking forward to harvesting pumpkin flowers. I heard they are great deep-fried tempura style.

@epiffanie Is it to your liking? I must say it won't be my
favorite, but I never turn down anything edible and free.

Check on youtube for ideas?
The sprouts should be edible, but it would be nice to wait for a pumpkin to grow.

Is it edible? It is a shame to throw them away, so I kind of hoping I could turn it into side dish or something. Other than that, or they end up in my makeshift compost pile

How to modify it? By cooking it? Or do you mean like scientifically engineering an edible pumpkin sprout?

@pammooratan Both is good. But my backyard might get pumpkin vines-infested then .

What's good? Eating them? Or having pumpkin vines in my backyard? But I do think both are good ideas

That's exactly what I'm doing.
They looked healthy. Theoretically I should thinned out, leave just one or two healthy sprout to grow. But now they had sprouted, it's a shame to just throw them away.
