Yummy.....Its one of my favourite fruits and now its the season... I saw it for sale in some shops. Since its the start of the season only few is there.. I wiah to buy them soon. Oh I love it...
Scientific name is Lansium parasiticum and Rich in Vitamin C. We have got it from Malaysia.
Gaduguda is highly specific and predominately, it is scattered in some home gardens. It is grown mostly in Gampha. (My area) and Colombo district.
Gaduguda is consumed as ripe fresh fruit as well as various processed products. Gaduguda can be canned in sugar syrup or used for preparation of candy and wine.
Have you tried this?

We have a fruit called rambutan scientific name is nephelium lappaceum which is more closer to lychee as they look similar and the texture is almost the same only lychee has a strong scent.. I don't know the family of lanzones but yeah kind of close though..

@amandajay I've no idea. I don't know anything about them. I presume they grow on trees but I don't know what they look like 'in the raw'. I've only ever seen tinned ones.

I have never heard of it or seen it. Do they export this fruit or is it only locally consumed?
