Books on fiction

I want to discuss this keeping books in mind. However, I find this issue to be occurring in other entertainment fields of my life such as watching movies or TV series. But let us limit this to books.
Every time I read fiction, I find myself not being enraptured by it at all and am almost left wondering whether what I'm doing with life is useful or am I simply wasting my time.
I understand that fiction brings a lot of joy to a lot of people. However, it doesn't to me. I find myself sleeping while watching a movie. In theatres, I find myself getting frustrated at being shown something that is not real. I would rather watch a documentary or read a book on science and understand more of the world. I'd rather read an autobiography and learn about something that actually existed/exists/happened/happens.
Is there anyone who faces thins and has brought themselves to adore fiction after finding it to be an utter waste of time?

I have never found fiction to be a waste of time. I love reading fiction - Stephen King is my favorite living author and I loved reading Mark Twain, Herman Melville and others growing up. I also read biographies and autobiographies - I read "Shell Shocked" by Howard Kaylan and "Who I Am" by Pete Townshend within the past few years. I also found the books written by Tim Russert and John McCain to be quite interesting and very entertaining.
