Happy Friday all (and hello from the gym). I recently finished this book - I hadnt heard of this author prior to seeing this book and buying it at the Jamaica airport about a month ago. Apparently she has written quite a few books, including others with the main character of this one, Vic. Have you heard of this author or read her stuff? What do you think? Brush Back is a suspense / mystery where the lwad character Vic, who is a PI and lawyer, goes back to her hometown (the hood) of South Chicago after a former high school boyfriend asks her to look into a murder that happened 25years ago. Vics character is a little bit of a spitfire and she makes some people angry when asking questions. This is a good book although it felt slow and longer than maybe it should have been. Read anything good lately?

I've read quite a few from early in the series but none lately. She's definitely written over ten books in the series. Currently I'm finishing book 3 in the midnight texas series. It's by the same author as the sookie stackhouse books which got turned into true blood. Midnight series has also apparently become a tv series but don't think it is out yet.

@maezee it's supernatural stuff. True blood is vampires and the midnight series are vampires, assassins, witches, were animals etc etc. Writing is not amazing but it's quite entertaining

@Mike197602 Haha! I will for sure check these out. I need to branch away from mysteries....after you read so many they all run together after a while. Lol

@maezee Hello and Happy friday !! Your post reminded me that I skipped gym today for a nap, and now I feel guilty ! That's a great review there. I am currently reading a song of ice and fire by George R R Martin.

@maezee I wish I was as motivated as you are. i literally have to drag myself to the gym everyday, and then I end up skipping at 1 day in a week. That Ice & Fire book is a fantasy novel. There are 6 in the series until now. It is based in the fictional world of Westeros and Essos and is basically a fight between main 5-6 houses (or clans) for the Iron Throne (which is for the ruler of seven kingdoms). I am sure you must have heard about Game Of Thrones..the popular series on HBO. Game of Thrones is based on this novel series only. :)

I've never heard of the author, but I'll have to search for her books. I recently started reading Stephen King's Finders Keepers. I'm only a few chapters in, but I'm loving it.

@maezee The plot is a reader kills one of his favorite authors, then steals his money and some unpublished works from the author. Years later, the killer wants to retrieve the money and books that he hid, only to discover it's missing.
