We pay for a huge amount of channels that are barely watched. Roomie watches a lot of them. I think most cable companies are now going to cafeteria plans where you can select the channels you want to watch instead of programming packages. I would kill for something like that..but I can't switch right now. Out of 250 channels I bet 10 are watched with any frequency.

I would love being able to pick the channels I watch but so far our cable company doesn't offer such choices. We pay a large amount monthly which includes lots of channels we don't watch

We don't have cable here, we just use an antenna. It works for us. =)

@snowy22315 Oh wow, we get 15 channels and it's fine for us plus we watch DVD's too. The kids have a cartoon channel, and we have a few channels we like too. =)

@LovingMyBabies I could probably live with that! Although I do like some cable programming.

I don't watch TV at home. I have the free version and we don't pay for the channels. My boyfriend has a contract that provides a huge variety of international channels but he only watches a few of them. I have asked him to end the contract but he still wants it for the athletic channels.

@snowy22315 That would be a great alternarive. Do you think that the internet lines will expand in your area sometime in the future?

I have the "mega package" (everything except movie channels like HBO). What I actually watch: MLB, the Travel Channel, Turner Classic Movies.

I don't have cable or dish. If I watch anything it's on DVD, Netflix, Hulu, and Feelin. Though I did just unsubscribe to Feelin. I felt they didn't offer enough new things each month. I like it for shows from BBC or more Family Oriented shows but the problem was. My targeted areas were never getting new monthly things. Maybe once in 5 months. So I did cancel that. Other than that I use the internet to watch things I like. And the girls don't miss it at all because they're the same. Pretty much our t.v. is used for DVD, gaming or Vudu movies. I love my VuDu. So you might be thinking how do I keep up with news, weather etc. Well, I'm in journalism all that comes right to me and most the time, I'm reporting it. lol I have to admit it's a pretty cool feeling to break with something at 3 a.m. while Fox and CNN don't cover it until 1 p.m.

Ideally we would migrate to a lower package and just use Netflix to make up for the ones we aren't getting..but I can only stream after Midnight or it costs big bucks.

No matter the tier, we are all stuck with a majority of channels we could care less about.

Some plans are allowing you to choose channels. I think all cable, sattellite companies will eventually migrate to that in order to compete with things like fire stick
