Cholesterol Med

It seems that most of the people on this planet have high cholesterol these days and are on a variety of medications. I'm unfortunately one of them. The first one that I tried was the generic simvastatin which caused severe leg muscle cramps. The newer one that I'm on; the generic atorvastatin calcium has been much better.
Out of all the possible statins on the market at least mine only costs $2.00 for a 30-day supply. Well now there's a new one called Repatha which not only decreases the bad cholesterol but also cuts heart attacks by 20%.
It is a self-injecting med that you do every two weeks; but guess what? It's not covered by most insurances. The cost? $14,000 per year. That's roughly $538.46 per shot. I don't think so.
Following a better diet is the best alternative of all.

I'm afraid so @sol_cee ; although I have to say, it's been a long time since I walked through the doors of any fast food joint.

Oh dear wow that is crazy expensive..it is too bad you could not get it Nanette.
I was advised to take cholestoral meds too a good few years ago, but was so afraid of the side effects, did not follow through.
My prescrip would have been cheap yes, I can't recall the name of it.
But what I did was lose a ton of weight and I have not had my cholesterol checked , but I need to.

You can't say most have this problem - there are two of us right here who have excellent levels, thank goodness.

Yes you are lucky @jaboUK ; must be the good foods you're eating. Hopefully since I've changed my diet, I won't need the meds for very long.

Who would want to have to self-inject when they could just take tablets?
