What's Wrong with Pineapple on Pizza?

Heard a while back that an official from either Sweden or Switzerland said a pizza with pineapple on it is not a pizza! Well, here in Canada and the USA, they call that a Hawaiian Pizza. You know- obviously- the pineapple! As a matter of fact, here in Canada or the USA, they call anything with pineapple added- "Hawaiian" LOL!
I really wonder what the big deal is as you can make any sandwich, etc. your own- so why not pizza- there's even 'Pizza Blanc' which is all white pizza- not my style but who cares! The only definition I would give to pizza is that it has to be on a pizza-style crust and look like a pizza. But, I do prefer an authentic pizza so am covering myself there. How about you friends? Do you love pizza? What say you about not being a pizza if it has a different topping on it?

Although I do not love pizza, I don't mind it either.
In fact, we had it for supper last night.
I don't like pineapple on pizza, but I wouldn't say that there is anything wrong with it, like you to each their own.
Is there anything wrong with doing a ham with pineapple?

@MarymargII Yes, it is. Hawaiian pizza. And at KFC they sell pineapple fritters. They're quite yummy too! And yes, that is a bit of a tongue-twister.

Where is anything original these days. Anyway who is bothered about eating anything original. As long as it tastes better than the original long live innovations (lol)

Precisely and you're so right- nothing would be invented at all if it wasn't for innovations!

I like pizza but not with pineapple. I don't care for warm pineapple as I like it cold fruit.

Yes, that's true- I don't mind it baked with the pizza- but if you cared to- you could add it after if you wanted to try that

Yeah, but I could eat it that way too- we ordered from a new pizzeria when I was at my son's right in the city- It was authentic Italian but had basil leaves (baked too) on top of the cheese- lovely taste and crispy crust!

We do have Hawaiian pizza here too and I find nothing wrong with it. Something we would order if we want a light pizza as an alternative to cheese pizza.

@nottoooldtowrite I understand when people may not like the way you might put on your sandwich, they may not like the combination of ingredients, but it still a sandwich,,,oh well.

I don't mind if people have pineapple on pizza, I just do not like it. I do not like when something sweet like a fruit is on something salty like a pizza. It just...bleh. And the texture is disgusting together. That is just me. I know my mom likes it, I don't. I like white sauce pizza so much better than regular pizza sauce haha it isn't acidic at all so I don't get acid reflux. Pizza is something to enjoy, not have to worry about it tasting bad!

If pineapple on the pizza is not called pizza, then what we shall call it? Actually we have a Hawaii style pizza here and you can see the pineapples on the pizzas. And there is another weird thing. A pizza restaurant offers durian pizzas here and I must say that this is a very creative but risky idea

You see- it's just a question of creativity? Even though the original may be the Italian pizza, who cares what you put on it!

Yes the fruity sweet taste counteracts any pepperoni or peppers really well!

I say anything goes. I saw a share on facebook recently that I'd like to try out. It's topping on the half of a colored pepper either a green pepper or that sized pepper that can come in yellow, orange or red and sometimes even purple. You clean out the seed and then add your cheese toppings. Once I make it, I'll share an image and more about it. I've not looked at the how to's yet, but I did save it on my page so I can find it again. Maybe it won't be as good as it looks. But, who needs all that crust?

@MarymargII The knee is a bit achy, hasn't been painful at all since surgery. I was taking pain pills but it did nothing for the achiness, so I pretty much quit. Unless I get extra walking in, then I might take them a bit so I can sleep.

@MarshaMusselman Are you allowed to take Ibuprofen (Advil)? It did help me awhile and I was on blood thinners for a month later to avoid blood clots and they let me take the odd Advil- regular strength and it really helped. I had some strong pain killers as well but tried to limit them as they could be addictive.

Yes, that would be tasty sounding anyway- I love stuffed peppers but would be the only one if I made them- You'll have to try it and let us know! How's your knee now? Are you able to walk around better- and what about the pain? Hope you are feeling fine.
