Anyone else here addicted to books? I am!!!

March 18, 2017 10:38pm CST
Lol I was just wondering if anyone else here read books because, well, I do. I am interested in joining a couple of my local bookclubs because I want to socialize with like-minded people but I can't do that now. If you're reading a book now, what is it? I am reading Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill. Second time reading it.

@Seattlemom I love free books, specially when it's a good book. Sucks though if the first book is free then you have to pay for the next in the series

Ha ha ha That's funny!!! If I want could take like a few hours to read a book. I can finish it if there's not very many pages like The Wolf of Wall Street with over 500. I'm planning to rebuy that and some of the others that I love. I had to rebuy Think and Grow Rich but from a different publisher. I got this at BN and the one I had was ordered online. Free book but had to pay s&h.

Just finished Skull Duggery by Aaron Elkins. Even though early on I just knew who the skeleton belonged to, I still found the discovery process, and therefore the read, interesting and enjoyable.

@Seattlemom Of course I'll read more, just haven't decided which book it'll be. Doing crosswords and cross-stitch until I do.

It's great that you finished it. Planning to read more books? If do, what is it? I'm halfway done with my current one. I will get a few more once I have the money for it.

I love books. I have tons of it actually. The last thing I read was Inferno by Dan brown. Finished it last week when I was taking a break from all the paper works. Its nice but not as grand like DaVinci code or the Angels and demons.

@Seattlemom Me too. The books open my eyes to other places and I can experience things even its just an illusion. An escape to reality I think. The Davinci was quite exciting, the movie is okay. what happened to your books?

I have the same addiction as you and I call it "bookaholic." ha ha Sometimes escaping from life by reading a book definitely help. I used to have a lot of books. It's a long story here but somewhat sad about it. This happened last year in May 2016 so it's about a year since then. I did have DaVinci Code as one of them but left it behind. I didn't read it and Tom Hanks was in the movie of it.

@diosabella I'm quite sad but have to move on but due to not having the funds to pay for storage, they had to sell them at a yard sale to cover what we owe which was in the $300 area. I left behind some books that I couldn't take with me while the others were books I didn't want. I do like to escape reality as well if I want to escape stress and stuff or just want to learn.

I am fond of books, specially Historical books and novels. Though I haven't enough time now, still I like to read. You are absolutely right that books make us social, and give knowledge. The person with books, is very social, emotional and full of knowledge.

Most of the books I read are non fiction and self help. Occasionally fiction just to break up the monotone of it. I am planning to buy more books in the near future because I don't have what I want anymore. :( Lets just say I miss them just as well as pics and other important personal things.

I absolutely love books. I swear that's my weak spot. I love curling up reading books before bed with a hot cup of tea. I will literally spend hours in old book stores finding my favorite copies and buying them to read others people's thoughts scribbled in the margins. Books are the best.

I have the same problem here. We need "Bookaholics Anonymous." ha ha ha My hun and I have been together for over a year and he knows I would spend more of my money on books than clothes even though I love clothes. I would rather have knowledge than just trying to look good although he does tell me that I am beautiful. I am a nerd to him but loves it. :) I'm into the idea of getting into the tech industry as one of my main goals for this year and do read some books about it.

Yeah. I know but for now, more than likely, not let me go to it. We are in the process to work on the main areas like finding a permanent place and me to file a parenting plan before I can hit up book clubs to socialize and talk about books. I've been going crazy and so is my hun. Once we get the important areas covered, we will see if he would come with me or not to one. He's not reading any books but since he is a salesman would read those type of books when the time comes.

@Seattlemom Yeah, there are many books now that are second hand and can be bought at a lower price.
21 Mar 17
@shantalclay I know my local libraries have the Friends program that you check out what they sell. Never bought any of their books though. I had books that was bought at retail, Goodwill, Amazon, Half Price Books, etc. I miss them. And a few of here and there at Barnes and Noble as well.

I do have some ebooks but the actual book in my hands makes me feel happy. Being on my electronic devices like my smartphone and tablet is just too much. I like to unwind with an actual one even though they cost more unless bought at a yard sale or something.

Thank you. I love being here even though I'm not here all the time. Sounds like you like being here and it's why you keep coming back.

I like to read, too. Recently I have finished reading three books: The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Storeied Life of A.J.FIKRY. But for some reason, I haven't started reading a new book now. Do you have any recommendation?

Whoa! You bookaholic junky. Ha ha ha I haven't finished 3 books this year yet which was my fault. As for recommendations, my hun keep telling me to read Zig Ziglar since it's sales books. Although I have many recommendations. It depends on what interests you the most.
