Prayer-a-Phrasing

Just this past week I found an old prayer that I got about 15 years ago. I had forgotten about it and thought that I had lost it. My wife found a stack of papers and a copy of this prayer was included in it. It was from a Catholic religious education class I taught to some 5th graders back in 2002-2003. We took the Our Father and they put it into their own words as 10 and 11 year olds. I was inspired by a story about another young man who had done the same thing – only his intentions were just to be silly (not necessarily irreverent) with the prayer. I recently blogged about finding this prayer again in my No Coincidences with God blog. I didn’t think of this at the time 15 years ago, but in writing the blog, the term prayer-a-phrasing came to mind! So that is where the title to the blog post and to this thread comes from. You can read more of the back story if you like by searching online for prayer-a-phrasing and my blog title above. But here is the prayer-a-phrase itself: Our Lord, who lives in heaven, You are great and we want to honor You. The Kingdom comes to You. It will be done on earth like it is in heaven. Give us the food to help feed the poor and us. You help us to forgive the people that offend us, and others will forgive us. You help us to not be tempted into making bad choices. And stop us from doing harm or bad things. This is a true story about God.
