Moving from the American South to New England.

Less than a week ago, I moved from the Piedmont of North Carolina to Rhode Island, a place I lived for fifteen months many years ago. Back then I was young, very naive, and happy to be making my living as a working actor. Now I'm a writer who hopes to get back into performing and, frankly, I'm scared half to death. This is a huge transition for me and though I'm excited, I'm nervous too.
I lived in the US South for most of my life. Much was in North Carolina, but there were those thirteen years in Mississippi that I still find boggling. And, of course, my sojourns in Memphis were pretty wonderful for the most part. Hanging out on Beale Street and seeing some of the great Blues artists, past and present, in concert was never a bad thing.
One thing about the time since I lived up here - I finished college. That's HUGE. I even got into grad school but had to give it up because my mom became ill. It never occurred to me that I'd be starting over again now, but I know I can. There are many reasons I earned the moniker, The Fabulous Miss Virginia Lee!

you'll just have to get re-used to it.it doesn't help that stores disappear so quickly here..

You seem full of confidence which should help a lot. I got the acting bug at 40 and did some local theater, then my daughter was born and there was a long hiatus. I registered with an extras group in Portland, OR, a few years ago and did a small thing for "Grimm." I have done some local commercials and some independent films (some never released). I wish you well in your new location!

Thanks! It's been a very long time since I worked on a film, but I'd like to again. I have friends who are still working actors and I may try to get an agent. I am certainly old enough for fun character roles now!

@VirginiaLee I wish you well. I need to submit a new headshot to Extrasonly in Portland. I am now good for ancient characters.

Congrats on finishing college. Starting over in a different state isn't easy, as many of us have done it. There are a lot of changes. Good luck

That's quite a change to move from the South to Rhode Island! Not only is the weather a huge difference, but the cultures are different too.

They certainly are! But I love both pretty equally. Even better, this year I get two Springs. :)
