The glory of being able to type again!

On January 19th I fell flat on my face, ate dirt and leaves, and broke my right wrist. Because I fell on dirt, it did not shatter. Still, it was very painful and began swelling in mere minutes.
Amazingly, I was seen to very quickly in the ER. I checked in, went straight into the triage waiting area, and in less than five minutes was talking to a tall, bearded, maned male RN. I can't recall his name, but he was very good. He spoke to me about five minutes and then took me to the inner sanctum of the ER, right next to the Psych eval section. I was almost instantaneously whisked to have X-rays done, having lucked into the one brief lull in the madness of the day.
The wait after Radiology was a bit longer than I'd have liked as I was in a great deal of pain. Finally, I was seen to and ended up in a plaster splint wrapped in Ace bandages that went from the tips of my fingers down around my elbow and back up again.
I had to wear that contraption for a week. Egad.
Anyhoo, I then got a hard cast, neon pink, made of fiberglass and wore it for a month. Then I got a kelly green cast which I wore for another two weeks. The day I got that cast off and they gave me the wrist brace I wanted to do cartwheels I was so happy.
I could type again! You see, that's what I found most frustrating. Being unable to type is nigh to being unable to breathe for me. So now, as evidenced by my short sojourn thus far at myLot, I can write effectively again and that, my dears, is everything.

I can relate to those happy moments when one gets back to normal life. I had to bedrest for six months due to an accident.

@VirginiaLee True. That short thing I typed up there had a typo. Having to type one-handed AND dealing with the resulting typos adds up.
AND I was typing with my dominant hand. I'm sure it is even worse if I had to type with my non-dominant hand (left).

Indeed! I was cataloging books at the literacy council in Chapel Hill and doing it one-handed was insanely slow. I felt useless some days because the typo demons kept coming out to play.

I'm glad your alright and can type again. Typing with one hand is difficult, as there are a lot of keys used on each side. I just tried it and kept doing it over.

It actually wasn't too bad. The computer I used at the literacy council was a smaller laptop than the one I have and my left hand, my dominant one, acted like I never learned to type in the 8th grade at all.

So, since 19/1? I don't think I can survive that long.
I'm happy for you too.

I was very grouchy about it. My friends can attest to that! ;)

I feel your pain (I took a little trip, too). You're lucky that you were treated so quickly. I spent seven hours in emerg and only got something for the pain six hours in. I got the plaster splint/bandage treatment too, but after the one week whoevever looked at the xrays then decided nothing was broken and they gave me a wrist brace, too. Unfortunately, they didn't have any small ones so I got a med/large one. It really didn't help things. It's been two months now and still isn't any better.
I could type, though, using my good hand and one finger on the hurt one. It was slow, and I had to go back and correct things, but I got through.
