A fight at the supermarket.

I went to the supermarket for a few things and saw a, shall we say, reality show that shocked me.
There were 2 women and a man. It seemed that the younger woman was the maid of the two older people. The eldest woman had trouble deciding where to go and the man shouted to the youngest woman to take her and move "this stupid woman" so that she did not get stuck in the middle of the aisle.
I was so angry, but I know I could not get involved in a fight that clearly was not mine. Still, I think it is a shame how some men treat women (I suppose the same thing happens the other way around).
Would you have said anything?

I commented in a loud voice with Leticia, but the man took no notice of me.

@CoralLevang I suppose I thought it wasn´t my fight. It was verbal abuse. I would have had other behaviour had he done something physical.

No, if he had hit her or something then I'd do something...even then I'd be wary as I've seen people try and break up domestics and both people turn on them

@Mike197602 Wow, that is crazy. My oldest son volunteers at a church that feeds the homeless. Some strange things have happened there.

@akalinus when I worked at a house for teen homeless I tried to break up 3 or 4 serious fights and in every case they both turned on me.
I've seen it happen a few times in town too when the police grab the male the female who was being hit starts to hit the police...one time I saw them taser both of them

Poor lady.
He has no respect for women and hence much less for himself it would seem.
I would have run to help her but at the same time I would have been afraid of him hurting her.

I don´t think that he would do more than he was doing. It seems that everyone was acostumed to that verbal abuse.

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yet he wasn´t such a big man. I would have answered back, should something like that ever happened to me.

@akalinus The younger woman seemed to be the maid. But he was treating his wife stupid in front of a lot of people.

@marguicha That is sad. Could she have been the daughter and not the maid?

I would have had to say something towards him so that he could have heard me. Similar to how you handled the situation. I would not have become directly involved. Some people are just cruel and ignorant. It is sad that people get treated so poorly.

@marguicha That type of attitude is wrong irrespective of whether directed at male or female.

It is a shame. And women should learn to defend themselves from that.

The managers are usually invisible. And it was not really a commotion. He snapped at the women and they accepted. We heard.

Is their no security guard to call just so he or she would check what the commotion is all about?

If it was me, I would have avoided as you did. Afterall it was not my fight and i would hate to get involve in a fight which doesn't involve me. Even if its sounded a bit coward but I am honest.
