Time to venture into the dark side of music.
“A phantom will lead you in the summer to join the black parade”
My Chemical Romance was born of 9/11 which inspired Gerard Way (lead vocals) to found a band of gloom and doom. The New Jersey group comes off as an amalgamation of 70s punk, 80 alternative and 90s grunge. Way did not like to be labeled emo or goth. From “The Black Parade” album, the group written “Welcome to the Black Parade” was the band’s most successful song being Modern Tracks #1 and Billboard Hot 100 #9. Success was propelled by the eerie heavily played on MTM video.
“And we will send you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery in rage will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back”
So uplifting! “Welcome to the Black Parade” is the ideal kickoff to black songs. My Chemical Romance broke up in 2013.
