Oh, the irony!

Surely, this has happened to you one way or another... care to share?
But you ask - what on earth am I talking about?
Just a little while ago, I left a comment on a fellow Filipino myLotter's post asking her what internet provider she has. Because she was saying that her internet was slow making it hard for her to watch a certain show she wanted to watch. I told her my internet provider (which is also our landline/phone provider), and told her that we find ours manageable enough.
Within the hour or so... our phone line went completely dead. Only for a few minutes but... it did get me worried. Because I'm not sure if that has happened before.
I noticed it only because my internet went dead. But previously, when our internet goes dead, the phone line still has a dial tone. And I can even call the phone company to ask for assistance. Today, though, I picked up the phone and it was dead.
Oh, the irony! Just when you say good things about something, it breaks.
Do you have any similar stories you can share with us?

Oh yes my friend and I went out to have food one day. I think the shrimp in the food was stale since it was not tasting that good. Shortly thereafter my friend started having stomach aches and consequently diarrhoea. We had to rush home. I told her that the food is definitely not the cause because i was doing fine. However at night my belly was growling and then i started having stomach aches followed by diarrhoea.

Ooooh!
I'm pretty sure that has happened to me as well. Like when my father starts having stomach issues and my mother and myself would say, 'well, what did you eat because both of us are fine', 'it must be something you ate outside'. Then later on, we also develop stomach issues.
I guess we just had a delayed reaction compared to them.

i like the old landlines that don't die when the power goes out. now, i don't like that it's interconnected - the internet, cable and landline.

Ah!
Hmm... our line from PLDT is old but... are you saying that new landlines will go out when the power is out?
Our current device (phone) has caller ID so I think that's the reason why it needs to be plugged into the electrical outlet. When the power goes out, the LCD and caller ID doesn't work. But as far as I know, the dial tone is still there even when there's no electricity.
Of course, internet is a different matter because the computer will certainly need electricity.
I wouldn't know anything about cable.

@hereandthere Hmm... that's interesting. Though, I can't imagine why it would work that way.
And... you had access to internet even without electricity? Or did you mean you were accessing the internet through a mobile phone?
ETA: Oh, wait, wait... I think I get it now. You didn't say electricity was out in that last part. It was only landline and tv. Ok. Whoopsie. I misunderstood.

I don't really know what happened. All is back to normal now. I do hope it won't happen again. Because I wouldn't mind the occasional internet disconnects every now and then, as long as it doesn't take too long, and as long as the phone line itself doesn't die so I can still call customer service for support.

I remember saying good things about the telecom I have and then after a few days the net was so slow I can't even do a simple facebook checking.

@diosabella Yeah, I would think it's better to say, 'well, so far, it's been ok for me', rather than, 'I would recommend this'. That way, if it goes wrong then... well, I did say 'so far' and that was true. Not anymore, I guess.

@moirai Its hard to recommend something if at the wrong time it will fail you. Sometimes, I don't answer with the question "Will I recommend them to my family and friends?" survey. When I don they fail me after just a few hours on the same aspect that I'm supposed to be recommending them.
