My husband always goes to bed early to watch his tv shows and letting me watch all the shows in the living room that I record in the day. After about two hours my husband came into the living room to call me into the bathroom.
In the toilet was a huge frog!!! I was so shocked as I never saw any animal in the toilet before. Besides that, I was shocked at how huge the frog was.
He tried to flush it back down the pipe as we didn't want the frog to get loose in the house, especially in the middle of the night. I just hope it went back down the drain as I get up in the middle of the night to use the toilet.

@Happy2BeMe Every time I go in the bathroom I look all around. If it jumped out at me I would probably scream.

That was a rare find. Frogs are on the verge of extinction. Hope he has managed to survive.

@ramapo17 That's a great thing you did. Here is a link and there are many more that talk of frog extinction in the US and elsewhere too.
April 28 is Save the Frogs Day. Mark the date by learning about the 10 most threatened frogs in the United States

@AbbyGreenhill I didn't think so either. Today I went in the bathroom to clean and the frog was sitting in the shower. We got him in a big container and managed to take him outside and let him loose. I feel better now.

@chrissbergstrom We have lots of salamander all over the place but so far none have come in the house, at least not that we have noticed. They do get into our screen room though.

Wouldn't it have been easier to try and catch it and release it? Instead of fearing it.

It was in the toilet bowl and we couldn't get it so we tried flushing him down the drain.
Today it was in the shower. I guess he didn't go down the toilet and jumped out. We got it and put him outside.

@DesirousDreamer I felt better that we were able to get him outside. I just hope he didn't jump in the road.

@ramapo17It is good he didn't actually go down the pipes, that could have caused some damage. At least he was able to get outside!

we haven't had any critter show up in the toilet, but i have been reading similar posts here. my instinct would be to flush it down, too. it's really strange how they end up there.

I have never heard of such a thing. Do you have septic or sewer?

We have sewer. We do not know if he came in through the line or some other way and just found his way to the toilet but today he was back and he should be very happy he is outside now.
