Need help with my computer

Hope someone could help me. I have a new gig right now which is rewriting web articles into 400 word articles. I want to be fast and productive but my computer is not cooperating with me. I find it hard to control the cursor. I don't use a mouse only the touchpad of my laptop. It seem to move so fast or move so slow. Sometimes the keyboard is slow too, I type fast but the letters don't show up fast too. I always encounter not responding while typing and while reading web sites. It makes my job slow. I don't know if there is a virus. I don't know how to remove the virus. I don't know what's wrong with my computer or maybe it's me that type and move too fast my computer cannot catch up with my fast typing and moving between tabs and windows. First time to encounter this and it's annoying.
