I have sent you package and Money from London

March 28, 2017 8:07am CST
I felt so excited. These are the words written in his email. "Please have this as a token till we meet to know more about ourselves. I have sent gifts as I promised containing a flower pack, HP Laptop, phone, wrist watch with the sum of 35,150 British Pounds sealed in the same envelop to enable you to settle some of your daily needs and to take good care of yourself." exactly the phrase he had in his email. He also included a picture of the receipt with my name in it, dispatch date and when is it arriving. Apart from that, he included a link where the tracking number can be checked. I was amazed I must say. I refused of course. I told him I am not going to accept it because in my country, 35,150 British pounds is equivalent to more than 2Million pesos already. I thanked him and told him he shouldn't have done it. 3 days he said, the package will arrive. I checked the tracking link. Package went from London to Qatar day 1 of the 3 business day period. 2nd day, received a text message from an international number saying: "Notice: Your parcel is on hold in Malaysia customs team for adding money together with the present sent. Please can you check your email for solution on delivery. Broadway cargo." Indeed I checked the email. To my surprise, email said: Package was on hold because there was money detected in the box. Now as per the email, I had to pay $480 for the package to be released. What amzed me the most is that, payment would be through western union to a certain person. Woooooowwww!!!Totally crazy. Good thing, I have a criminal mind that's very good in investigation before believing. I am just grateful to my internet skills and my thinking ability. Or, I would have fallen into this bs in my period of vulnerability. My partner recently attempted to get into cheating activity. Plus this? Oh! Wait, way too much. I searched and searched and validated. My keen observation into details helped me. My very curious eyes and mind assisted me. The person who "sent" the package is a scammer clearly. How did I know? 1. Too good to be true. Expensive gifts? Unless you knew the person personally you would. Even bill gates or the owner of facebook wouldn't easily jump into giving something to someone they barely know. 2. Accent - I must say me watching too much english series and served several people in the UK, USA, CANADA and AUSTRALIA even ASIA has made me an expert in distinguishing accents because I do have the ability to speak like one. 3. Spelling and sentence construction. I am not perfect in writing myself but I am a very good reader that I can identify if you wrote it correctly. 4. Logos and website itself. I am blessed with a very curious eyes and mind. I searched the logo. Thanks to technology who taught me to differentiate fake from original. 5. Thanks to my cousins all over the world and helped me trace if this and that existed. Scammers really don't know when to stop until they can take advantage of trusting people. I don't know why they can even sleep tightly at night of their doings. My advise to everyone, be very careful specially if they ask for details. They will definitely befriend you and make you fall into trap. Three things, NEVER TRUST, STAY CURIOUS and BE INVESTIGATIVE. Ask the right questions. Let us spread this and make everyone aware of these type of criminals. Exhaust all your resources to find the truth. Validate every information. Being keen would never be too bad at all. Good Luck everyone. Be careful.

Good that you used to clever mind to prevent yourself from getting fooled by a scammer. If it had been someone else in your place maybe they would have transferred the money

They do it because there are still people who will fall for it. I am glad you recognized the scam and didn't lose any money. So many people do.

@homebasedbobbie I know. It is terrible. I don't know how they can do that.
29 Mar 17
@Happy2BeMe neither do I. In all fairness, you would actually believe it is true because they created a false courier website where in you can see your name and that tracking number would appear valid.

I used to get that kind of mail but I can't believe that they are still around. People will just do anything for fast money and alot of people out here that still believe that money can be just hand out just like that. it could be hand out if its your family maybe but sending it in mail when it has no privacy anymore its clearly a scam.

@diosabella I don't think so. Not all people has access to what is going on in the internet. Scam has been known since.. all of us yes knows exactly what this is. But not all people are aware of how these scammers work. I think that's what I want them to know more.

I used to work in a bank and have seen many of my customers falling into this trap. Either by way of lottery or some inheritance mail fraudsters have their way. Good for you, you saved yourself by not falling into their trap and by being vigilant.

People will absorb shame and guilt just to get money and survived. That was really scary, maybe I should start checking and watching more english movies as well just to prevent myself from being scammed. there was one time back in facebook, but I was able to stop it before she gave her bank account details.

Good thing you didn't fall for it. The golden rule, as you well know, is that if it's too good to be true - don't touch it with a barge pole.
