Gecko madness

Well, there's this gecko madness that's been going on since 2009 here in the Philippines. The issue died away back in 2015 but a lot of illegals are still at it. According to these illegals whoever they may be and their minions may be, a full grown gecko has healing properties and they're being shipped to China, Malaysia and Africa for their medicinal purposes. Our Dept of Health already adviced the public that there's no known cure for Cancer or AIDS associated with geckos. But a lot of hopefuls are still falling for charlatans. On one recent ocassion, which is causing my blood to boil, my mother-in-law talked my mother into getting into thay gecko business because apparently one of their peers, a farmer, knows qhere to get these little guys (geckos) and one can be solved for 100k. Cashing! Cashing! I could literally see their eyes glowing because of the potential income in geckos. I hated the whole idea because I know it's illegal and I know that it's prohibited to catch these wildlife animals. I also heard from the news that these geckos when they've grown, they are cut up (not to kill) nad drugs are stuffed inside their bellies to be smuggled to other countries. I have strongly prohibited them to stay away from such business transactions but I think my cries have fallen of deaf ears.

Poor geckos. And this is what will lead to their extinction one day, if it goes on for too long.

@slayer08 And another species taken out by human greed. It's not even like they do anything. In the end it's just like snake oil.

It's already considered extinct so anytime soon they'll be gone.

This would cause an ecological imbalance since lizzards prey on insects sich as disease causing mosquitoes. You should also dissuade them because this is poaching and they could also be charged with smuggling wildlife

Right. But sometimes people suddenly have a different mindset when it comes to money.
