Friendship

For me friendship is very important. I don't take them lightly. I think people have to earn my friendship and that takes time. And they have to respect my sensibilities. If they don't, why bother? I have to have something in common with this person. A lot really. I have very few real friends. I am choosy and I don't let everyone in.
I think there are different types of friendships too. I have 'in person' friends and a few online friends. I appreciate them both equally. I have people that are more social acquaintances. I know them a bit but only really hang out socially.
Mylot friends? Many. Some I don't really feel close to but, I enjoy their input in my discussions and in my life really. Especially when they make me think. Then there are ones that are simply delightful, I enjoy their input and I look forward to seeing their discussions. It's like checking in with a in person friend. Still others I have made personal in personal contact with. These are very special and I feel very fortunate to have them.
I used to have two very good friends that I had known for many years. One shocked me and hurt me very much in 2009 and we are no longer friends. I never saw it coming. What a shock. Still hurts to this day. But, the other one has been my dearest friend since I was fifteen and she is my BFF. (She knows where all the bodies are buried. LOL?) I have two very close Mylot friends and I feel very proud to call them both my friends.
How about you?

I so agree with you. I have one very very dear friend I would do anything in the world for. We have been friends since we were very young. We have been friends for over 50 years.

I am super picky about friends. At this stage in life we have moved so many times the friends we made are not near us so we don't socialize, but that's fine - I have my husband and he has me we're best friends forever.

@celticeagle I have a friend back in New Jersey - we have been friends since third grade. WE don't see each other but we chat on here and in e-mails and if I needed her she would be here in a flash.

How about our friendship my friend?
It means the world to me because you understand the 'dilemma' that many others do not.
To understand someone without judging or offering pointless advice (threatening action) is so valuable.
Thank you.

I had a few good friends in my younger days but we all moved away and lost contact. My sisters, brother, mother and spouse have always been my best friends

I totally agree.
I have to be able to trust people and know that im trusted too, and not being used to be someones friend.
I have a few online friends, one online bestfriend, and two friends i thought were bestfriends (one in anither state, and one down the road) but feel more like strangers.
I dont mind not being close to others most days.

It's a give and take. I don't mind isolation for a time. I do appreciate my family.

I feel that it's good to have real friends. But if people get close to you for some other reasons, I prefer not to have them. I like pure friendship. I'm not very good at making new friends. Most of time, I stay with my family and coworkers or myself. And I also have one friend for many years.
