Why Do People Not Like Politics

May seem like a dumb question on the surface. Lies Deception, expert manipulators, back stabbing to get ahead, and just hurting people out of sheer spite. I would say those are all good reasons for the average person to hate, not want to discuss, or even follow politics. The thing is it gets my blood flowing or maybe it is boiling. I have not felt like posting the last couple of days, but so close to cash out. Only need a few more cents. Had to get something to get me motivated. All it took was reading a few political post from around the web. Now I am ready to close out this months cash out threshold. I personally think we do not live in a time where we can create our own safe bubble anymore to shield us from the bad in this world the way we could in the past. I think this scares people and makes them not want to follow politics even more. Trying harder and harder to ignore how politics has taken over the media, corporate world, universities, and now bombarding our homes. Everyone wants you to join their side and if you do not, you are a a treasonous traitor and the enemy. People cannot discuss politics anymore without everyone losing their mind. That has always been there though. It is just a lot more magnified with social media I suppose. Being more informed seems to have driven many over the edge. They do not like the truth or the facts and why so many makes stuff up trying to keep their safe bubble intact. Making it very hard for them to defend their point of view because you eventually lose all credibility when someone calls you out it. Making the person with opposing viewpoints much more of the enemy, just like many have been feeding them.

I don't think people hate politics so much as they love to hate politicians. We've become such a divided nation between the left and right, and each side loves to hate the other.

Indeed, we have, more of proving each side wrong than finding out what works. Instead of using the truth and facts, many people like to make stuff up to prove the other side wrong.

@crossbones27 I heard a story on the news this morning that many of the right-wing fake news sites being quoted on FB are based in Eastern Europe and being funded by the Russians. I've learned not to believe anything I see on most of those right-wing sites. Or any left-wing sites, for that matter. If I think it's worth any attention at all, I'll try and trace it to its source. If I can't, I table it until a reliable news source corroborates it.

@crossbones27 adversarial politics is bad and that's what we've got at the moment. What we need is realistic politics where parties have their views but can actually come together for the greater good on certain issues...it normally takes bad things to happen for parties to unite.

To me i hate politics because it brings out the ugliest side of some people, i feel like there would be many family members still in my life had i not heard there every view, some can have differng views and i can get along with but its all how you push that view on others and demean and belittle others for not thinking the same.

I concur with that 100 percent. So sad to than many people are so into their ideology that they can stay as family or friends.

Perhaps it has something to do with the cheating, stealing, finger pointing.

Agreed, but never will understand why people do not want to know what is going on with things that will make their life harder. I would throw easier in there, but I do not remember the last time something drastically made my life easier or less complicated.

@computerguy1980 That is one way to look at it, but you might care when they screw up your drinking water for one example.

People associate politics with politicians and boring stuff. I'd suggest if people actually thought about what politics actually meant they'd realise they are very interested in the subject.

I think they would also, I used to be bored with politics until I realized how much it really does impact our life on a day to day basis.

I do follow politics but I also intensely dislike it, for many of the reasons you have mentioned. This election was unusually horrid and both sides are equally shameful and disgusting in their own special ways.

I have to agree. Hilary did Bernie dirty and then she got a taste of her own medicine from outside forces and it is hurting this country so bad right now.

Some do, but that is why I like being outside. One of the rare few he can see the whole story because the inside game was never going to help people like us.

Yeah, but why does it make people not pay attention more because it impacts there life more than they know. Look at Flint Michigan, that is what happens when people do not pay attention.
