Brownies, is on my mind

We are going to try to get over to see Gram this weekend, and for whatever reason (prob cause aunt who also lives there likes to make them), I now associate brownies with her house. Which isn't a bad thing, not sure brownies could ever be bad! Just craving them a little early now. I bet you have places that are associated with foods, or smells, or sounds too? Like what and why?

I have a lot of different reminders that have smells, some not so good. Some weird and some pretty great haha There is a smell that reminds me of an ex and it is pretty sad. and there is another smell that reminds me of when I was in physical therapy. We passed by that office yesterday and I could just smell it, without even being into it haha

there is a smell that reminds me of a HS boyfriend, some cheap body spray or something. I have no idea what it is, just when I smell it on rare occasion his face pops in my mind and I wonder how he is doing.

@Jessicalynnt It is pretty crazy how smells help us remember people. The sense of smell is the best form of memory. Besides music.

@Jessicalynnt My oldest son makes the best brownies. Unfortunately he's several hundred miles away.

My kids associate my parents house with Japanese food - but of course because Grandma makes them Japanese food (they particularly like her noodle soups!). Oh, now I'm craving brownies!

@Jessicalynnt That's pretty good you can make curry! My mom makes it from the box . I did meet one fellow mom who actually roasts and grinds spices to make truly from scratch curry. I am looking into making "real" ramen too!!

@much2say I use the bricks to do the sauce, but do add a few things to that.

I havent made too much Japanese food, although I can make a decent Japanese curry. I want to learn to make traditional ramen though!

I often pass through towns thinking of meals, drinks and music enjoyed in various places there - always sad if not free to pop in again

I'm having trouble liking posts for some reason. Milk puddings always make me think of my childhood.

@Jessicalynnt Milk pudding is a generic name for rice/tapioca/semolina/sago pudding - virtually anything made with a fair amount of milk in it.

I do love brownies but I don't associate them with any particular place.

I associate the bathroom of my granny with the smell of lavender. She used lavender soaps and there were lavender sachets in the drawers where the towels were stored.

My grandmother loves making pies. So that would probably be the thing for me. But brownies do sound yummy right now!

gramma used to do the apple pie thing, although she made them before we got there, so it's not as much of an association as say grandpa taking us out for icecream and him ALWAYS getting a vanilla malt. that flavor will always make me think of him
