Who's the Fool?

Today is, as you may know, 1st April. Often referred to as 'April Fool's Day'. I have no idea of its origins and I'm not really interested enough to look it up. However, if anyone happens to know about it, please feel free to pop it in a comment.
Now, I hadn't written anything on my WordPress blog for a while and I thought a fake news story for April Fool's Day would be a good opportunity to get it going again.
I thought of a few possibilities - 'new breed of venomous cat found in suburban area', 'flying piranhas invade town' and that sort of thing. However, I wanted it to be at least almost believable. I also wanted images to go with it. So, I settled on something else.
At my most recent count, I had had 5 visitors since I put it on just under an hour ago. Two 'likes' from Facebook friends but I don't, so far, know if anyone has fallen for it. I will edit the story later and let everyone know it was made up.
Have you fooled or been fooled today? Do you have any favourite pranks?

It's good to be able to spot it. Some are obvious, others are often believable. I liked one that said Subway was introducing an ice-cream range which included tuna flavoured ice-cream!

@LadyDuck I'd try some of them. :) I would probably try a tuna ice-cream but I'm quite sure that was just an April Fool from Subway!

@pumpkinjam There are more weird ice-cream flavours than tuna. Look at this list of REAL weird ice cream flavours.

I know a few people who would have pulled an April Fool's stunt with colleagues on the day!

@pumpkinjam , I think a favourite sport star of mine fooled me this time. This time of year always leaves me wondering.

People are often wary of the day! It's funny when people don't realise what day it is and get fooled by fake news, though.

Everybody is very careful about it. We can not make others Fool this day. But, in the Mess I am eating in, the counter staff informed me that the State Bank is winding up all its branches and going to operate from a single building and that it was announced in the night by the Prime Minister on T, V

There are some very silly things that people believe, and then, of course, those things that could be true. I don't like any Fool jokes that upset people. If it's not hurting anyone, and you come clean in a short time, it can be fun.

Perhaps we can get some research done and make a discussion about it. :)
