Wheeler Clock Tower

This is the Wheeler Clock Tower, located in Downtown Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Built in 1889 by Manitou's first banker, Jerome B. Wheeler, the clock was a gift from Wheeler to celebrate the opening of the Manitou Mineral Water Bottling Company, and was cast in Italy.
The statue atop the clock is the Grecian Goddess Hebe, the Goddess of Youth. It is identical to a statue of Hebe that Mrs. Wheeler reportedly became enamored with while in Rome.
The clock, at one time, was also a fountain, with small bowls at the bottom of the tower. Back then, water flowed into the bowls so that thirsty dogs could drink fresh water. Now, the bowls are empty, and probably appear to serve no purpose.
Today, the tree lined clock tower provides benches for weary tourists to rest as they ponder their next destination. It's also a great makeout spot at night!

Was the running water turned off due to drought? Maybe they can use it again. Very impressive tower.

I'm not sure. Could be because there's no bottling plant anymore.

It totally fits in with the town, even with a Greek Goddess on top.

It doesn't even really look as old as it is, either. Not to me, anyway.

It does make perfect sense, now that you mention it.
