Why should I care what my dentist's politics are?!

I just heard an ad on the Chicago radio station I'm listening to. It was a dental commercial and said "we share your conservative views".
I don't care what party my dentist is, or my doctor, or the cashier at the market. Why should I? I wonder if people refuse to buy service or goods from someone who doesn't share their politics? Do you care if someone you're doing business with is a conservative or a liberal or an independent?
It was just such a bizarre commercial!

@chrissbergstrom Gosh, that's a bit different! I don't think I'm in much danger. I live a very 'ordinary', quiet life.

Right kind of scary, i had heard many years agoa horror story about a microchip being put into a fake tooth to track someone, so that does kind of scare me a little...

We don't care either. It is their business and we'd like them to keep that to themselves.

Right? Politics is the last thing I want to discuss in a business relationship!

@dragon54u That and religion. Two things most of us want to avoid always.

I wish I could find some reasonable charges! Over here in the U.S. a crown for a tooth is about $1,000. A filling can be a couple of hundred dollars and a bridge is about $2500. I haven't been to my dentist for a long time because I cannot afford any work even though I know I need some.
Politics don't matter to me. They are interesting and I'll discuss them with reasonable people but I expect the businesses I deal with to leave their politics at home and I will, too!

@dragon54u That is about the market price for a crown for a tooth.
Over here, it can go up to $2000 and that depends on the experience and reputation of a dentist.
In term of public service, the dental service is horrible.
You have to make appointment 10 months ahead for a root canal treatment.

same here - as long as he does the job he can keep his politics to himself - though to me all dentists are like Steve Martin in Little Shop Of Horrors
This is a clip from the movie. Steve Martin is hillarious. I create these for my iPod for when I need a good laugh.

I guess they'll have a lot of conservatives in the chair! Like you, though, I do not care what a service provider believes. They have a right to believe whatever they want as long as it doesn't interfere with the service I'm buying.

Yes, they are, and they do nothing but lie and stretch the truth!

I rarely let politics affect who I patronize. I won't patronize certain businesses that support causes I don't agree with and I let them know it but I won't actively try to turn people against them. I don't even know my dentist's politics, he's just a very sweet guy from the Middle East somewhere. I haven't seen him for years and I should go for a checkup but I can barely afford rent. So I try to take good care of my teeth!
In fact, my dentist is such a nice guy that he did a whole bunch of work on my son for half price. He's worth his weight in gold!

@dragon54u I won't patronize businesses that will use their profits to support causes I detest unless there are no alternatives, but I don't try to get others to boycott them.

Well it all depends on how controversials there views are and if they plan on talking to me about them while drilling my teeth i very well might walk out.....

I think I might, too. But a true professional will not talk about politics, religion, or money when patients are within earshot. That's just good manners as well as good policy!

I don't care what other people's political views are and that wouldn't stop me from interacting or doing business with them.

There are so many people who do care, though. I don't understand it. It seems as if in the past few years one or other of the parties is evil and out to destroy America. Dems think Repubs are evil and vice versa, it's a poison to our country and I wish it would stop.
