Knee being the operative word. My knee has been hurting a little lately. It is my right one, and the only way I can describe it is that it feels like a ligament in there is strained... I don't know if it needs to pop more or less, but I really can't control how often my knees pop. I know my knees feel better when they pop, but that doesn't necesarily mean it's a good thing. I wear knee pads to work and they help a lot, but you still strain yourself when your job centers on lifting and bendng.. So yeah, I "kneed" to be more careful... Especially when Knee problems run in my family.

Yeah, once your joints go, it's pretty much over.

@ScribbledAdNauseum - I remember back when shark cartilage was the thing to take. Not sure what they are taking now.

Have you tried Kneading your knee? (some might call it a massage) I need someone to knead my neck. but you might need it on your knee.

hehe.. I have a friend who does massages. I might ask him what he would recommend, since he lives a little far away to give me the massage himself. As for your neck.. my massage friend has told me before to get a tea towel and put water on it and warm the towel in the microwave, or in a pot, or however you prefer. Then wrap that around your neck to loosen the muscles. I've done it before and it helps a great deal.

@minx267 He also puts rocks he collects from the river in the towel to keep the heat? I think that's the reason he does it. Either way, if you do try it, I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

I hope you feel better too! I think I can deal with the knee more than my back! I hate when my back hurts.

Be careful, I had a problem two years ago because I hurt my right knee while I was going down the stairs.

I know how delicate our knees can be. My sister (and now that I think about it my brother in law too) had fluid on their knees at one point. I have two family members who had to have replacement surgeries.

Chances are your knee pain is just a symptom of a bigger issue in your body. I'm gunna take a few wild guesses, let me know if these are true or false for you or just answer the questions as best as possible. Do you have low back pain? Do you experience headaches fairly regularily/ more often than usual? When you stand/ walk do your toes point outwards or inwards? Do you sit for more than an hour at a time? These will help give me an idea of where your issues are actually originating from. Again, the knee is a symptom of the actual issue. I am a certified personal trainer focusing on human functionality and biomechanics. Meaning I fix ppl.

I appreciate the effort.. .While I don't disagree that generally knee pain (or other joint pain) can be indicative of another issue... I work as a stock clerk, and thus am using my arms, legs (and knees) to lift things consistently. I wear knee pads. As for your questions. 1. No 2. No 3. I haven't noticed? 4. I have, yes. But I do try to get up and walk around atleast once every two hours.

@ScribbledAdNauseum it sounds like you have faulty recruitment patterns. The muscles that SHOULD be doing the work are being over taken by compensated muscles. I will be doing a discussion later about foam rolling, or massaging as someone mentioned earlier. I can show you where the issues occur and how to address them. Having said that, it is a lot of work ahead of you

I ache a lot after volleyball. I've skipped a few weeks lately, so I'm feeling much better now. I wonder if I'm getting too old for it, but most of the people I play with are much older than me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I don't know, my mother isn't athletic and she weighs like 300 pounds. She has knee problems but that's due to her weight. I get muscle soreness. I know I have tendonitis in my elbow, I think I might be getting it in my knee and wrist too.

I wouldn't think so. You may just need to take more care with your joints. It could be a genetic disposition. I know I have to worry over things (like my knees) because it's just a heriditary trait.

Yes, and I might look more into that. My cousin posted a link to a joint repair supplement, I might have to see what that is all about.

Ouch! Knee, ankle and feet problems are no laughing matter. I hope that you are able to find some relief. With the storms blowing through here and the change in temps, I have had problems with my right hip, knee, and ankle. Once you do something to them it seems that they never really heal. Do you find that the changes in temps bother yours or is it a constant feeling?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am afraid that the older you get the worse it gets. Just ask my hip and knee....

It isn't quite a constant feeling, and it could be attributed to the weather for sure. I pulled muscles in both of my upper legs years ago, and for several years they would ache everytime a storm blew through! I wish the weather would stop having an affect (effect?) on our limbs!

Sounds like my left knee. My left knee has been playing silly games since before Christmas, and I did go to the doctor, but it didn't help. I should go back, but right now my knee is only hurting when I'm laying in a particular position in bed. Husband doesn't believe me. *sigh*

My knee was only hurting when I was sitting down which is weird... I was on my feet for several hours yesterday but it was only when I sat down that my knee hurt.. .weird. It hasn't gotten so bad that I need to go to the doctor yet.. I know my sister had fluid on her knees and they had to be drained (I think). I have two other relatives that had to have replacement surgery.
