The 17th Century King of England

The puritans fled from England to America because they saw that England's church was part of the state. What law was implemented by the first fathers of America? In my opinion Martin Luther and John Calvin's influence are what began early American politics. I wonder if the Catholic Church, which was the church of England, is any different than today's.

The church of England was not Catholic at the time of the puritants. But the puritans then were more radical protestants.
