Dash Cameras: Do you have one? My opinion about Dash Cameras.

Now a days with the crazy road rages & drivers, many people have dash cameras. Their reasoning to own a dash camera varies but primarily I would think to have a dash camera is to have proof if there was something to happen - it would be recorded.
However in my opinion as well as my fiancés - it seems like the ones WITH dash cameras are the ones who want to "cause a scene' so they have something to post on the internet. There are so many on YouTube and it is just 'one side of the story'.
One recent scenario was when we were driving about and approached a 4 way stop sign. It was clearly my fiancés turn to turn left as he made a complete stop and waited his turn, but the driver, a male + sports car (with the dash camera) rolled his stop and floored it.
And knowing he has a dash camera, he knows "no one would want to mess with him" or else he has the footage right?! He wouldn't show that he rolled his stop sign but he would show the road rage in effect.
What are your thoughts? Do you own a dash camera?

Our car does not have a dash camera. It would have been nice if they invented a camera that sees and records 360 degrees around your car so that when someone messes with your car while it is parked and you're away, you'll know who the culprit is.

Our car doesn't either. But you could purchase one and install it in your car if you'd like.
A 360 version not so sure if they have that yet. If we invented it, we'll be rich! Hehhe

I would never want to own a dash camera because it would prove my guilt in so many scenarios! haha

@infatuatedbby May be it is getting popular with the people who own it and at your place. I have not heard or seen anyone using here. It must be a costly camera, I suppose.

@dpk262006 Yes, it is very popular now a days. It is okay priced, depending how much one wants to spend. Average probably $100 bucks.

Oh it is getting popular here! Owning a dash camera to record their driving. Some even post online if they come across crazy drivers or road rage but I also think there is two sides of the story.

Oh I see! Some have mounts for their camera or phone for higher resolution. How is the quality of the dash camera?

@infatuatedbby Tha dash camera that my husband bought has a great resolution, it is very small and this is what makes the camera interesting, anyway it's just for fun, if it is to make a good quality video we would buy a dedicated camera.

No I don't have a dash camera. I think I would have to agree with you on those who have dash cameras and their motives.

@fishtiger58 And full of road walkers too! While hiking , walking you can only fit two people side by side on the pathway. So when someone comes, my fiance & I would walk in line...
Well, some just do not bother and keep going so it results in us having to stop complaining and move out of the way!

Yes, it is a hit/miss depending on the user. But so many drivers here drive horrible and as proof. We may invest in one.

I think like most things they are good when used for the right reason, but as you specified many use them in the wrong way to.

Yes, if used for the right reason I would have no problem. But I see many jerks post online and we only see one side of it.

I think you may be on to something there. Perhaps the dash cam does instill some false sense of security in it's users.

Yes. I get what you mean. Some bikers acted the same way. The cam could be use in both ways bad and good. It depends on people who use it. But now if you don't have any proof to prove your innocence most of the time now they would look at you that its your fault.
