malay is a lazy tribe

hey, i'm an indonesian.
and most of indonesians are malay. many people said that malay is a lazy tribe. they just think how to get survive today but not tomorrow. for example, they work today and earn money to get food for today. tomorrow is tomorrow's matter.
they're also not kind of hardworkers. sitting and just doing nothing are their hobbies.
what do you think? do you believe that one tribe can be judged like that?
can it be an excused for the malay? ..like, "hey, i'm malay. so it's natural if i'm lazy!"...like that^_^

It have hurt me as an Indonesian. Unfortunately, it's true..
I've traveled to Sumatera, Kalimantan, Jawa, Bali and Sulawesi. I must admit it. Especially, for the people who live in their own villages. They are lazy.

maybe yes. you know.. tropical countries have natural resources so even they are not work hard they can still afford the living. that way of thinking make people lazy, nor develop.
ofcourse, this is not a valid theory ^_^
there're still many people who live in that such countries and kinda hard worker

what kind of discussion is this?are u agree that ur INDONESIANS are coming to our country to get a job where your country cannot even provide a lousy job for you?

lantaidua please..dont embarrassing your country here. I'm sure we are better than the westerners. In Indonesia topics of SARA (u know what it is) is strictly prohibited. But here, in mylot for example, people are making money by insulting religion one another for the sake of freedom. In Indonesia we are bound by freedom with responsibility! That's our plus. No offense, but the other Indonesian will be dissapointed with this discussion. We should be proud of our country instead of talking about the weaknesses in public. Dont get me wrong, just want to express my opinion.

i myself is a malay, i mean.. i'm from riau and i'm malay. i don't mean to embarrasse indonesia even malay, i even proud to be indonesian.
what i want to tell you that there are so many stereotypes of tribes like malay is lazy, bataknese is rude, or javanese is calm... is it make sense to judge one's personality with his tribe?
personality is not tribe's matter right?
that's what i want to tell. that's what i want to hear from someone out there.
by the way, thinking that we are better than other maybe make us proud of our country, but it will just stuck in being proud.
what we should do are .. proud to be an indonesian and do efforts 3,4 times more than other countries since we are not better than them. really.

Nah.. I dont think that's completely true. Every tribe and race has its own good and bad side. Maybe we are not as hardworker as the westerner, but I think we are more friendly than they are. Anyone agrees?

yes i agree. tribes don't decide anything, but there are stereo types for some tribes.
indonesians are friendly?.. humm, maybe we should meet other people from other countries too.
in some way they are more friendly than us i think
