Complaint about an Etsy Seller.

I hope I won't have to make a formal complaint. The seller has yet to send my item, and has not messaged me at all with any updates as to why. I have bought items from different sellers and they always message me if it's going to take a little longer than expected.
I have bought from this particular seller before, with no problems. I just hope that this time won't turn into one. It's already past what they estimated the delivery to be. I will wait until tomorrow when I can leave a reveiw, before contacting the seller. I won't leave a review, but I will contact the seller and see what the hold up is.
If I don't get a response back within two days, I will then make a formal complaint and leave a review.
I try to give homemade sellers the benefit of the doubt. I realize they mostly lead busy lives and that they do the best that they can. It's when they don't reach out at all that I start to get a bit aggravated.
As it were, I purchased a soap from another company only four days ago and it will be on my doorstep later today...

So am I.
I completely appreciate the handmade lifestyle, I grew up around it... but when someone doesn't reach out and say "hey I'm a little backlogged.. I'll send it out asap".. .Well it gets to me.

@ScribbledAdNauseum exactly. There's a way to do things. Not saying something, is the wrong way

@Courtlynn Agreed! Especially when your business is your livelihood. Bad business to not say anything at all.

On their Etsy Page, does it state their turnaround time or estimated shipping on when you should receive your order by?

@ScribbledAdNauseum That is not nice that it took past the 10 days. I would think they'd contact you if it was that long. Glad it has been shipped. Has the tracking updated?

Oh no, I mis-spoke. It's not been shipped, but will be tomorrow.
The lady was a little abrupt for my taste, and so I may not shop from her again.

Yes.
Says they try to get out in 1-2 business days, but it might take up to ten.
It had been past ten.
I went ahead and actually wrote them today and got a response back. It's ready to sent out, which is good.

Sorry to hear this news. Its not good when the person doesn't state there will be a delay.

It's too bad when this happens. I hope it works out well for both of you.

@ScribbledAdNauseum ...That's good. I think when some are so thoughtful it makes it worse when others aren't.

me too!
I kinda hope that this means a free sample will be included, for the inconvenience. I won't ask for one, mind you, but it'd be nice to get one.
I've had free samples come with things i"ve ordered because they were "back logged" but they also reached out to me. Also, I didn't really find that situation to be an inconvenience, that is to say, not a lot of time had passed from the buying date to the sent date...

That's too bad. Most Etsy sellers are reliable, but you get the few that aren't and ruin Etsy's image for all of us. It's especially bad when you're are a repeat buyer, and the service isn't the same.
It's possible that the seller is sick, there's been a lot of bugs going around. But it would be nice if they could send out a quick line letting you know that they haven't forgotten about you!

I hope that it's just other obligations, or that they are sick (with a cold or something minor.) but like you said... It takes two minutes to leave a quick note.
I went ahead and sent a messge, we shall see what is said.

I have never had a problem with buying from Etsy ... yet. But I have only bought two things! I hope it's been sent now?

This is why I don't buy things online much anymore. I'd rather find it at a shop, or straight from the seller.

There is one or two places I could go to get these types of things but they are downtown and since I don't drive... Also I don't think they have creamed soap or liquid soap... I don't like the bar soaps..
But I do try to buy handmade as much as I can as well.
I don't like to buy things online that I'd have to return, and so for the most part I don't buy clothes or shoes online.
