Why is Norton Security hated and feared by so many PC users?

I have been using Norton Security since the first year I owned a personal computer aka PC. The days of internet use are nearly 100% by most PC owners. Nobody hardly ever uses a computer offline.
The majority of users keep their WiFi on 24/7, and in fact, most PC users keep their desktop systems running all day and all night while automatic security updates and Windows updates occur at random intervals.
The Windows computer sees all user activity within range of your network. Even if you don't want to know they are out there, your computer is aware of them and keeps you aware of them as well. Most of the time, not always, but most often than not, there are people who do not pay for internet access but have apps that allow them to connect to the internet by piggy back riding your WiFi even though most of the time this slows down your internet communications while downloading live video streams and downloading updates, the very fact that your so called secured internet connectivity is being challenged on a 24/7 basis demands that you take control of your Wifi or contact the people who installed it, be that AT&T or Verizon or Time Warner or any number of other Internet Providers that you are paying for and wondering if you are getting exactly what you are paying for or if someone else is depriving you of bandwidth by hacking into your so-called Secured Internet Connections.
I do know it is hard to be sure at times if it is just that there are so many users taking advantage of ISP services in your local geographic area of the city or other area of the country, even rural areas, that the total number of combined user activity might in fact, slow down your connection and transfer rates of digital data.
Getting back to the very real threat that you are dealing with as to your exposure to both piggy backers on your wireless router or entering your PC via your wireless keyboard or mouse or even monitor, by seeing your signal strength on their own systems, be them cell phones, tablets or laptops or desktops, the need for protection against having your entire privacy and for that matter, your expensive computer equipment makes it par for the course for you and me and every body else to seek some form of security from the ongoing threat of cyber criminal attackers.
I have been using Norton and know that there are many users who outright do not like or even trust Norton. I think there are in fact, no fully trusted programs out there that are 100% trusted by all users. If you want to use free-ware-3rd party-internet security-apps or applications, go for it.
If you want to keep from being hacked, I can say that there are some ways to do it without worries about hackers. Go to your local public library and use their computers. You can use them if you have an updated public library card and you can usually feel pretty certain that they are using some type of software to protect themselves from hackers. In fact, it is very likely that Public Library patron usable PCs are better protected against cyber attacks than the ones you use at home or at work, because the public library is government owned and operated. The number of people online at libraries probably equals or exceeds the coffee shop users and other Hot-Spot locations nation wide.
If you prefer to not use Norton, but instead opt to use some other type of either free-ware or an anti-virus or firewall that is either a physical firewall, or what have you, do know this ... Hackers and Wireless router piggy back riders are out in full force so you know you need to use a service that is not just 24/7/365, but one you can trust. Why do you think Windows Defender is pre-installed into your new Windows 10 PC?
Because The manufacturers of both software and hardware and Pentium chips not to mention browser makers, entertainment networks, your bank and your favorite shopping online networks are all using one or several types of internet security software and hardware to see to it that you, the average PC user, the casual user, who just likes to play video games and text friends on Facebook will always be in need of protection of some kind. The days of safe surfing are long gone.
So, here is a link that has more to say about why we need internet security ...
It's a sad fact that crime and other nasty things exist on the web as they do in the 'real world'. Read the following guide to ensure your connection is secure.

@zoega_59 ,The computer mfrs make a bit of money by pre installing what has been termed as bloatware and I understand why people tend to not like having even a trial version of internet security software especially when it is very hard to remove it in favor of one of their real preference.

I had Norton anti-virus for awhile but it just did not pick up everything so asked my technician for a better one and he gave me one and I really like it better. I am not afraid of Norton, I just did not think it did what it should do.
