Would you like an Easter Tree?

Th ancient tradition to decorate the branches of trees with empty egg shells for Easter comes from Germany and Austria, and is still observed in many German speaking countries, included the north of Switzerland.
Those who decorate their outside trees, start even a month earlier to hang many egg shells to the branches. Most people simply decorate a tree branch that they keep in their home to decorate the Easter table.
The decorations varies from painted empty egg shells, to artistically carved and painted shell, but also plastic or glass eggs are used.
This is my Easter tree, I painted a small branch cut from the hedge in white, and I hang a few eggs shells, some glass eggs and paper eggs that I have crafted from colored paper.
Which is a traditional Easter decoration in your home?

@allen0187 The Greek Orthodox have the habit to dye the eggs of particular shade of red for Easter.

That's a really colorful tree.
We don't have any traditional easter decoration at home. We don't even paint eggs.

@toniganzon It's a pretty annoying process to pain the egg shells, I hope not to break them.

Other than loading up on chocolate bunnies, making Easter baskets for the kids, and hiding Easter eggs for the kids to find, I don't really think we decorate much for the holiday. I've seen people put seasonal and holiday flags in their front yards, but really nothing more than that. I'm sure some people here must decorate, but I've never decorated my house before.

@LadyDuck I really love learning about the many holiday traditions around the world! And hearing the back-stories of how those traditions came to be is also very educational. Thanks for sharing the Easter information!

What a pretty Easter tree you've got there! I will follow this cool tradition and do this next Easter. My decorations are just chocolate Easter eggs and hot cross buns.

I think it's a wonderful tradition. I used to put out a little scene on a coffee table that had little ceramic bunnies and chicks with a few little glass eggs on the artificial grass. The bunnies and chicks were looking for the hidden Easter eggs. My girls loved it, when they got older they used to set it up.

@fishtiger58 But you never had this tradition. The first year I was here in Switzerland I was very curious when I saw an Easter egg in the window of a shop.

This is the first time that I have ever heard of an Easter tree. However, it does seem logical that it would be a German tradition because Prince Albert introduced the German tradition of a Christmas tree to Britain.
I expect that being decorated with eggs would make the tree very happy.

as mentioned by allen, some organize easter egg hunts for the children, but usually no special decorations or food. your easter tree makes me smile because it's so colorful. i will look forward to your easter scene next year with the lamb and fake grass.

@hereandthere A paper calendar is the only thing I am sure to check, even if my cellphone runs out of battery or I do not turn on my computer.

@LadyDuck - Our Easter decorations are very simple. I have some decorative eggs and stuffed bunnies which I set around the house. That is all I do, although I decorated more when my children were young.

Oh I love it! I had an Easter tree but not traditionally. Baskets of treats and Easter Lily plants are my usual decorations. This year, none. I was traveling.

@LadyDuck I've never seen the pink lilies. I always have white. Yes, I'm getting back tomorrow. After I arrived and unloaded the car, I went to my daughters and have been here for several days. When I get home tomorrow, I can settle in a bit.
