parents' desires, children's stress

All parents desire the best for their children. However, most of the times, the parents forget that the child is an independent personality with his/her own preferences, skill sets and influencing factors. And no person can understand another person's nature well enough to decide the future path for that other person, even if the other person happens to be this person's child. A parent should definitely wish the best for his/ her child, should provide the best resources as per the situations and should always be there whenever the child requires support, advice or assistance. It is the responsibility given by nature to a parent. However, a parent should not authorize himself to decide on behalf of the child fir the child's future. That is the way the child could actually live his/ her life naturally as deserved.

It's bad when some parents think the child's future employment 'should be' forced into doing. Like a doctor, lawyer etc., when the child/adult may want to be a musician or something else @dahiyaanuj . Just because Dad was a doctor doesn't mean that the child wants to be one.

That is one of the worst things parents generally do...

Well, it takes a lot to be a good parent to let go of the child when they start thinking of their own.

Not letting the child go is acceptable if you allow the child to express himself absolutely freely!!

Ironically children who decide for themselves and work hard for it, tend to do very well in life.
As long as their parents do not go all the way out to force them to do things they hate.
When the parents just provide moral values, and financial support for their children, their children will turn out fine.

absolutely. a parent has been given a duty by nature and not rights. and a parent could not possibly think best for his child since generation gap is always active. what could have been the best decision regarding career in the last generation could prove to be one of the worst in the present one.
